So I caved...
A little. We ended up spending the day out and about at stores. But, we didn't go first thing in the morning, so it wasn't bad. Got a raincheck for Buffy: Season Seven at Target for $17.77 when they were sold out. For that price, it's mine. We only have seasons 1-3, but it's worth getting. The guy was really nice and gave me a raincheck though I don't think they were really supposed to. But the tag didn't say "no rainchecks" while many of the other ones did, so *grins* go me.

Beyond that, I picked up some holiday cards (if you want to swap, let me know!) and a candle and a book and a few little things like that. Nothing big.

Whoops. Totally forgot this was open. Heh. Well, so much for an entry. I think since I'm vegging out anyway, I might as well do it on the couch with Love. So, abruptly ending entry. Sorry 'bout that.

Yawn
Sleepy. New toll road made the drive really quick and painless. Generally a good day. The bargin hunter in me wants to hit stores tomorrow, but the sane part has smacked the first part upside the head and recalls being in Best Buy for a tv three or four day-after-thanksgiving days. Hell exists and it's called three hour line at 7am.

Anyway, tired. Hope everyone had a nice day.

Happy Thanksgiving

A Litte Bit of This, A Little Bit of That
So, nine days. *grins* Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is coming up! It's close enough now that I can look at the extended, ten-day weather forecast for Orlando to see what the thoughts are for the weather. Currently, they're predicting a partly-cloudy day with a high of 75F and a partly-cloudy night with a low of 59F. Not as cold as I'd like it to be, but since it's a night event, it's not bad. Plus, it's better then it's been lately (all up in the low/mid 80's still during the day.) Of course, we still lack transportation and may end up having to rent a car. Though, last time we had to rent a car it was about $50 which is a hell of a lot of money and I'm not sure if we're going to have that much extra. (And if we do, it means we certainly won't be able to get anything in souvenirs or food while there. Bah. Damned car.

Speaking of money and the holidays, I'm going to list some of my jewelry items and penguins and stuff here so anyone who wants a neat, unique and hand-crafted gift for a friend or loved one can get it. I've got a bunch of items that have been sitting around, that I'll sell with holiday discounts so that you can get something and I can hopefully try to earn a little money so we can have a holiday too. Look for it later today, I'm going to work on putting together some special listings. I make nice things and I know people would enjoy getting something different this season.

Of course, tomorrow is Gorge Yourself On Turkey Day. Alternately known as Why Did I Eat So Much Pie Day and I Hate Driving To The Relatives Day. Or, of course, Thanksgiving. It's one of those mostly useless holidays which is really an excuse to force family obligations on you. We have, tomorrow, two households of course to attend - both Love's family and my own. Both locations are quite a distance away though thankfully, this time, both near each other. (Unlike Christmas obligations which are shapping up to be over an hour drive in one direction in the morning, then another hour drive in the other direction for the afternoon. Something I not only do not wish to do - for what is a holiday if you spend it all en route, are rushed and spend no time with your significant other? - but do not think the car can do. *sighs*) Anyway, Thanksgiving though is always eating too much, too much food, too many people around that you know but not really to make small talk with and too much time spent getting to-and-from. It's not a holiday, it's an obstacle course! Ah well. The parents and such love it, so we do it to please them. Though I would much rather it be so emotionally driven and that one could do as one pleases on the day without incurring the guilt of the family.

Anyway, poor Love is sick and just came home early, so here endeth the entry.

One of those days
So, last night about midnight, our apartment starting feeling really hot. We look and though it was set about 74 or so, it was about 85 in here. Open up the panel, it's all iced over. Call emergency repair. Wait. Call again. Wait. About 1:20am, someone finally shows up. This is, keep in mind, the second time the a/c unit has frozen up in two months. It was apparently all frozen outside - solid ice. So, we had to run the fan without cooling all night. (Fun electric bill that.) I didn't sleep for anything all night.

The guy was going to be out first thing in the morning - 8:30am - to track down where the leak was after it all thawed out and get it working again. So I'm fittfully dozing, making sure I hear them when they come to fix the unit. 8:30am....9:30am...10:30am... No one's come by, no one's called me. For those not in Florida, today's forecast high was for like 83F so it's not without warrent that we want our a/c working again.

Back and forth with the office and the a/c is finally fixed tweleve hours after the discovery of it iced over, about 12:15pm. Ugh. Their utter incompentence with repair and maintenence requests disgusts me. They've still yet to address the dishwasher which we reported two days after moving in, nor the hot water heater (which is full of sediment and drying out our skin horribly) three weeks after reporting it. No one does anything and it's really souring me on my new apartment. Which sucks. Because otherwise, I really like it here. But these appliance problems and repair issues that aren't even remotely being addressed are so frustrating. And making it a miserable day-to-day environment.

Thankfully at least the air is working. Again. Maybe one of these days, we'll get the rest of the issues looked at and, *gasp* fixed.

Holiday Card Swap?
Anyway want to swap holiday cards? Christmas/Yule/Solsitce cards? I'd like to work on getting my list together, and in the confusion of moving, plus all the new friends who read my journal, I'd love to have anyone interested in getting a card, drop me a note. You can comment if you want (though I'd hate for someone to post their address if they felt uncomfortable), or you can email me: missm(AT)giveneyestosee.com Cards are fun and festive, so it's a nice way to spread some mail goodness. Last year I sent out a huge batch of handmade cards! (And had tons decorating my wall in return.) It was wonderful. :)

You can reach me at my post office box:

M. Turner
PO Box 1484
Elfers, FL 34680

Keep in mind that my mother actually checks it and then relays the items to me, so sometimes, there's a week or so delay between when it arrives and when I get it.

Anyway, just thinking about it and wanted to post before I forgot. Merry, merry!

Boring Weekend
Not much to report. Ran around to a few stores Saturday, enjoyed some oh-so-yummy and oh-so-rarely beloved treat of Olive Garden's Fettuccine Alfredo. YUM! Rare because Love is deathly allergic to garlic and because it's pricey just for one person to get take away. But oh, do I crave it - and the breadsticks with the alfredo dipping sauce *swoon* - all the time and love every moment of it. Watched Walking Tall with the Rock (stinker) and that was about it.

Today, we did even less. All we really did was get down to Love's parents house for dinner with his family, come home, watch Charmed and we're kinda beat. Neither one of us is feeling tip top - him, battling getting a cold all week and me with my continual upset stomach new world record - so we've just kinda been vegging. While looking at my bookmarks, I saw the blogger link and thought I might as well post an entry. Not that I really have anything to talk about but still. Good to keep in the habbit.

Printed up a couple photos from my digital camera Saturday and found this glass frame that Love's Aunt gave us last year for xmas. It's big - holds four 4x6 photos (two vertical and two horizontal) - and is just two sheets of glass, no matt with two silver bars on the side and two black wood bars on the top. Anyway, I put four of my banyan tree photos (old and new) in it and hung it next to my desk. Looks nice. First time I've framed any of my artistic shots. I also printed up some of my beach photos (like the one used for this layout) just to see what they'd look like as actual photos. It's neat seeing my digital images in print. You forget how much you like them until you get them in your hands.

Ok, that was the worst attempt at a description ever, so here's a pic instead:

Alright, time for Love to get some sleep and me to soon follow. Night.
