Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say grow up.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

*gets off soapbox*

Power Outages in LA
I use Dreamhost for my PhoenixFire Designs site and I noticed I was getting a timed out error. A quick look at their status page - status.dreamhost.com gave me this info:
Serious electricity problems in the Los Angeles area have taken our entire network off-line. We have no information about when power will be restored or what the status of our servers or network will be when power is restored.

Fuuun. It's not just Dreamhost either. Just so happens they're in LA. Check out this article for more info on the wide-spread power outages affecting LA.
LOS ANGELES, Sept 12 (Reuters) - A major power outage hit Los Angeles area on Monday, knocking out electricity to thousands of customers as officials scrambled to determine the cause and police declared a state of emergency.

CNN had this to say:
The electricity went out shortly before 1 p.m., and outages were reported from downtown to the Pacific Coast and north into the San Fernando Valley, an area encompassing hundreds of thousands of residents and thousands of businesses.

..

An official with the city Department of Water and Power said it appeared the problem began when two power receiving stations failed. That forced several larger generating stations to shut down, according to Robert Rozanski, chief administrative officer.

The receiving stations get high-voltage power from the generating stations and convert it to lower voltage so that it can be used throughout the city.

"We are doing everything we possibly can to find out the source of the problem," Rozanski said.

Hang in there LA. If you visit various sites and they're down, this is probably why.

Update Edit - 8:13pm
From the Dreamhost status page:
Serious electricity problems in the Los Angeles area took our entire network off-line for a few hours. Service is currently being restored.

Power to our data center has now been restored and our network is back up. Our servers and equipment are being powered on gradually to avoid potentially damaging power spikes. Barring any complications, your websites and email will be fully operational again very soon.
