Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say grow up.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

Giddy
Hey Miss M! It's Friday, December 3rd. What are you going to do tonight?

Well Bob, I'm going to Disney World!

hee hee

Yeah that's right. It's the day. Just getting ready and will be heading out of here about 2pm. It's going to be a great day.

See you all on the other side!

Witches Weekly - Times Two
Since I didn't get around to doing last weeks, I thought I'd toss them both here. So, it's two times the fun! :)

Spirituality in Daily Life

How do you incorporate your spirituality into your daily life?
Hrm, I don't know. Little things remind me of my faith; the moon in the sky, or the wind blowing on my face. Some days I don't think about it much, while other days it seems close to the surface.

Does your daily life hinder or support your beliefs or practices?
A little bit of both. I don't have any access or ability to really go out and meet with other, local pagans so I don't really get to see or participate in that side of things. On the other hand, since I'm not on a 9-5 schedule, if I want to do something private ritual wise, then there's no interference. Sadly, I find myself unable to really take advantage of that time.

What do you wish you could do more for your beliefs on a more regular basis?
I'd really like to get better about observing the Sabbats and really celebrating the holidays. I don't because it's just me and it seems silly to go to effor when no one else is involved.

Purpose

What is the purpose of ritual?
I think it's just a way to tangibly bring your belief into existance. Sometimes, you need the ceremony to make it "real" to you. Though, I've never done any real ritual and lately, I find that lack more noticable.

What connection is there between the work we do between the worlds, and our mundane life?
Of course. I think all things are connected.

What role does creativity play in witchcraft?
I think it's important to be able to think past the black and white. To be able to look for the unexpected and be open to possibility. If not, you miss out on so much in life. I think too many people not only wear blinders but are proud to deny the full spectrum of the world.

Tomorrow, tomorrow its Disney tomorrow...
*grins*

So, Love's taking a half day, I have a reservation on a rental car, emtpied my digital camera's memory card (is 307 pictures enough?) and I'm going to charge up both batteries. Checked the temperature (the overnight low's gone down to 47F now!) and need to plan what I'm going to wear. Also need to sort through my pins and get together any ones I have for trading with cast members. Oooh, I can't wait.

Yesterday's cookie baking came out really good. They were surprising easy to make and quite tasty.

here's the prep work for them

here's the finished batch of cookies. (there's actually twice as much as this; a second layer below this one!)

Last night I also worked on some special, Holiday Penguins that I'm going to add to the penguins site on a limited time availability. You, who read my journal get first dibs though on ordering one.

Santa Penguins!

The Fox news guy called me yesterday. (About how I got the free ipod from the freeipods.com site.) He's coming here next Thursday at 2pm to interview me and get shots of me listening to my iPod. He's like, "Do you still have your iPod?" Well, DUH. It's only a $300 item I got for free less then a month ago, of course I still have it. Not only that, but why would I reply to your email and say I'd be willing to do an interview if I didn't have it any longer? *shakes head* Anyway, I have no idea when it will air, but apparently, he's doing a report on sites that are and are not scams online and how to tell the difference kind of thing. I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks to everyone who commented on the new layout. I get obsessive about it when I make one and as soon as I call it "done" and upload, I want to get feedback on it. Heh. It's one of those things where you think you did an okay job, but you won't really believe it's decent until someone else says they like it. It's a low self-confidence in my abilities thing. (And it gets worse the older I get for some reason. When I was a teenager, I didn't give a shit what anyone thought of me, what I wore, how I decorated, etc. but now...oy, now I get mild anxiety attacks over whether or not someone else will like something I made. How sad is that?)

Hrm...I think I covered all that I had planned on mentioning. There were a few things I was thinking about last night before I went to bed that I wanted to include in the next entry (and yes, I think about writing my entries sometimes hours before I'm sitting at my computer) and I'm almost positive I got them all. Oh wait, one more.

Holiday cards... Everyone who wanted to swap cards, yours has gone out and you should get it any day now. But I have more cards left, more stamps and plenty of time until xmas, so if you still wanted to swap cards, let me know. You can email me your address if you don't want to post it online (missm(AT)giveneyestosee.com) or you can put it in the comments. Anyone sending one my way can use my post office box:
M. Turner
PO Box 1484
Elfers, FL 34684

Send me one, I'll send you one back. It's fun to get cards in the mail, so please, pass along your address if you want to get one from me.

Mkay. I think that's it now. TTFN.

Winter Theme
You should all now see an end to the summer beach layout and a new winter one in it's place. It looks like it came out ok from my end, but by all means, if something looks wrong to you, please let me know.

I've gone for something simple in a different way this time; more traditional of a blog layout. Though I really liked the other style and the iframes, I really felt like something more classic was where I wanted to go this time. And, since I live in Florida and lack the ability to take winter scene photos, it seemed another reason to do something different.

Thoughts?

Mmmm...cookies
So my mom's coming over - should be here in less then an hour - to show me how to make this one type of cookie that I have loved since I was a kid, but it seems no one in the family makes anymore. Mom used to make them when I was little by the huge batch and over the years, I've really grown to miss them. My mom's mom (my grandmother though we call her "Nanny" since she doesn't like the word "grandmother" because it's too old a word) makes some each year though mostly the nut type. And I like the fruit type.

Oh? You want to know the type of cookie? Very simple. These little "cups" that are filled with a fruit preserve. Simple but delicious. For a lot of years when we first moved down to Florida, you couldn't find the fruit preserve things that went in them - we had to have them brought down from Nanny's summer trips up north. That added to the irregularity of getting them at Christmastime. But now, that you can find them anywhere down here, my mom has long since stopped making cookies for the holidays. My sister and I are grown and my Nanny makes batches of cookies for all the family, so there's really no point. Only...I miss them. And I'd love to have a tupperware full of cookies again for the holidays. So, she's coming over and we're going to make them.

MVMCP is getting close now. I had a hard time falling asleep thinking about all the fun things I'm going to do and everything I can't wait to see again. We're going to get there at 4pm which is great because it's three extra hours in the park. (See, the event runs from 7pm-midnight, but they will let you in at 4pm, give you a special wristband and then you can stay in the park after it closes to the public - 6pm - until the official opening of the event - 7pm.) In the end, we're renting a car. At least we know we'll get there and that's what counts. Can't miss the event and run our own car into the ground.

The forecast has fluctuated by about five degrees as I've been watching it the last week. Currently, it's calling for a high of 72F day and low of 52F night. Sunset is about 5:30pm, so it should be pretty cool/cold for the night. Which is good actually, because it wouldn't be a very christmasy event if it were too hot.

Alright, better wrap this up for now. Photos of the cookies to come. Man, I can taste them now. I can't wait!

Warm, fuzzy clean feeling
So it started last night. The urge to clean the house. Partly because it needed to be done. Partly because mom's coming over tomorrow to help me make some christmas cookies I love but haven't had in years and don't know how to make on my own. Partly because the new reporter guy wants to meet and interview me and also see me at my desk. (My desk is in my master bedroom which was ground zero for mess disaster.) Between it all, I cleaned the kitchen and the living room last night - putting away all the junk and crap and throwing stuff out that just had cluttered and built up - and the bedroom today. I even straightened up my desk, unpacked some of my desk items and set it all up. Looks clean and since I'm proud of all the hours of work I've put into it, I wanted to share.

This is my desk. And though in the pic it looks like it has a lot of stuff (and it does; I love knick-knacks), it's actually got clear room and space and everything's neat and organized.

This is looking at the bed. Yes, oh gods yes, we need curtains. Desperately. On the left, you can see pictures that I just now got around to hanging up. Those are all drawnings my Love did. Which I thought looked neat arranged on the wall like that. Below it is where I'd like to get a little dresser/night stand that I could use to set up my very first real alter. *whistful sigh* Anyway, it looks empty because it is! The room is not only huge (h-u-g-e) but it's clean. No clutter. No boxes. So it looks all nice and serene. At least to me anyway.

For as much as I hate the process of cleaning, I love the results. I get a warm, fuzzy feeling when everything's all neat and in it's place. Sadly, life doesn't often lead to things staying in their place for long, but....eh, I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Holiday Sale and Gift Ideas
I spent the day trying to change and update my jewelry and horn site: PhoenixFire Designs. I've updated a lot of things, added new products and put a bunch of stuff on sale for the Holidays.

For example: check out some bracelets on sale:

I have some necklaces listed with MANY more that need to be updated (man it takes a long time to do it all!) as well as the ever-available custom horns. (Just this month, I got in an order for a college in NY for example, so just because it's not Halloween, doesn't mean I can't make them or that you can't still use them!)

Also! Don't forget about the penguins!

These little fellows are all dressed up in their tuxes and are ready to be a unique and adorable gift! (I can also take custom orders for the penguins as well; either multiple quantities or special touches. For example, someone ordered a boy and girl penguin set, one with a bow tie, the other with a hair bow to be holding flippers.)

So....check out the items, and let me know if there's something you're interested in or something you want customized. I'm desperately trying to raise some money for the holidays and my craft and artsy items are the one way I hope to do it.

PhoenixFire Designs

sighs. I've been having problems with blogger all day and have been trying to get this to upload for over an hour now. literally it just sits there, doesn't time out and never does anything.

Crickets Chirping
Yeah yeah...I've been bad this weekend about getting updates. Thing is of course, that it's generally the only time I'm up and away from the computer and out of the apartment. So I don't really feel like coming back here inbetween doing things (anything!) to sit at the pc. I do that enough during the week.

Let's see...Thanksgiving went ok. Like I said, the new toll road made the drive easy. Plus, I got to hook up my iPod to the stereo (using the tape adapter thingy we have for our portable cd player) and it sounded really good. Better then the crappy portable cd player actually. Plus, there's about a gig worth of songs on there at the moment, so we had a good assortment. I have another few gigs on the harddrive to transfer over plus I found a bunch of my cd's that I want to rip and import, but it's amazing how many songs you really can get on the thing. I have about three hundred and I'm not even scratching the surface of storage left. Heh.

Speaking of iPods, you of course all remember how I got mine through the freeipods.com website right? Well, last week, I get an email from the co-founder of Gratis Internet/freeipods.com asking me if I'd be willing to talk to the local Fox channel reporter about my experiences with the site. I said sure, why not and got an email from the consumer lawyer news reporter over the weekend. I emailed him back this morning and told him I'd certainly be happy to talk to him and to let me know if he was still interested in doing the story. So, who knows? I may end up talking about it on tv. Heh. Since we all know it works, why not sign up yourself? (This link is will give credit to my Love who's trying to get one too. You have to complete and offer yourself in order to qualify, but if you do so through someone else's referer link then it counts for both people. He doesn't have any referers at the moment and seeing how this is going to be a tight Christmas, I'd love it if I could help him at least get something free.

Saturday, I got my hair cut. Nothing major, just needed to be trimmed out again. Took about two inches off it, so it is a little shorter, but still below my shoulders. The lady dried it straight with a curl at the end which looked neat but different. She also put more layers in it then I wanted (since it spiral curls, layers don't really matter the way they would if it were staight) but it's ok. I was mad though because it was the same place I always get it cut (though different woman then last time) and it was almost TWICE as much in cost as last time! Oy. My jaw almost hit the floor. I wasn't expecting it to be so much and that sucked because it was money for Disney that got spent.

Sunday, we went and saw National Treasure. We all really liked it. Catchy, funny, and of course, a dream for anyone who ever wanted to hunt down and find treasure or was facinated with ancient mysteries as a kid. Looking at some reviews, it seems a lot of people didn't like it. Which is hard to believe since the theater was packed and everyone applauded at the end. We all did and I recommend it. That's two-for-two movies lately; both Incredibles and National Treasure were well worth the watching. (Previous to this, we went on a five or so suck movie spree where they were all real stinkers. In fact, we saw so many stinkers we didn't go to the movies for a few months; we were soured on the whole experience.)

Still need to work on putting together some listings of jewlery and such. I'm really hoping some people will buy some for holiday gifts which will help me have a christmas budget. (Current budget: $0.) Don't forget, cute little handmade penguins make a great holiday gift!

Ok, out for now. Work to do.
