Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say
grow up
.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

*gets off soapbox*

Love's Art
Some of you may know that Love does fine art, black and white portraits. (You can see a few samples on FoxPaw Prints. They're not to best quality though because they're not professionally scanned but it's an idea.)

Well, he's wanted for years to find outlets and resources to hang his work. Last week, when I was at the library, I saw a notice. They're looking for fine art by local artists to present in their meeting room. I snagged an application for him and we applied a couple days ago.

Today there was a call. And an email. And he's in!
Thank you so much for your application. We would love to have you
display your artwork with us. We have a large and airy meeting room with lots of wall space that we dub our art gallery. However, with the room open to the public and an average of 100 people a week reserving it, you should have ample exposure.

I'm so happy for him. And he's so proud. This is the first public showing of his work. He's has ideas of places to consider or ideas of things we might submit, but we've never followed through or found out what it takes. So this is his first! (He's on the phone right now with his mom and he's giddy.)

Some people may not think the library is a place to show off fine art, but besides being in an extremely upscale neighborhood, I think it's a perfect mix of public view. And I know it's going to spur him forward with following up with a Native American arts gallery in St. Petersburg that expressed interest in seeing his work. (Because, yes, despite looking entirely Irish, he's only half and the other half is Blackfeet.)

So big congrats go out to my Love tonight. He got his first acceptance and that makes me so proud.

Not Much To Report
Not a lot going on the last couple days. We hung out at our friend Rand's house for a couple hours on New Year's Eve watching South Park on Comedy Central. Then of course we watched the ball drop in Time Square. Shortly thereafter we went home. None of us drank. Me because I don't drink and Love because he had to drive home. Even though it's only five-odd miles back to the apartment, I just can't see well enough at night and the car is in such bad shape, I'm too scared to drive it even in the day. Love's used to it, I'm not.

I spent most of New Year's Day asleep. I was just extremely tired and fatigued and all I wanted to do was curl up and doze, so it's pretty much what I did. Love was off work of course and he and I made it an extremely lazy day.

Poor Love started feeling unwell on Tuesday and came home from work with a cold. He stayed home sick Wednesday and has been stuffy, sneezy and coughy all day. He enjoyed some tea tonight though because he's been chilled all day. (Now he finally knows how I feel!) He drinks hot tea very rarely and tonight, despite not really being able to taste is, realized just how nummy and warm the experience of tea is. I think he finally gets my fondness for it a little bit more. I also had some tea. I tried the Strawberry one from Adagio. I got it, plus three other flavors AND the cool "IngenuiTEA" teapot for free as a thank you for linking to them. (My journal has a google page rank of 5 and it qualified me for their starter set. Sweet! It arrived today via FedEx. It smelled awesome and tasted pretty good but I think I let it brew a smidge too long. (I was busy cooking dinner at the same time so you know how that goes.)

While Love was home cleaning up today Wednesday afternoon (instead of resting because he never does when he's sick), my mom and I ran out to Target and exchanged a shirt Love got me for xmas. Well, two shirts technically, a twin set of a sleeveless shirt and matching cardigan. Sadly, it was too big and they didn't have the same pretty green, so I got a pretty heather purple color one instead.

Over the last week or so, we've also watched several dvd's. My Super Ex-Girlfriend was quite funny. We laughed out loud many times. Eddie Izzard is almost unrecognizable as the bad guy in it. How strange is it to think he looks odd without lipstick and heels? Clerks II was also quite amusing. I liked it quite a bit more then I thought I would. I admit, I was hesitant about it, but again, many laugh out loud moments.

Let's see...we got about a half hour into The Matador and just didn't even remotely get it and turned it off. We also watched Invincible and while it wasn't bad exactly, it wasn't good exactly either. (The problem with a movie about football is that, well, it's a movie about football. Neither Love nor myself really like football.)

Another that was funnier then expected was Waiting... If you ever worked in, or have eaten in, a casual restaurant (a la Bennegins or Ruby Tuesdays) you'll get a kick out of it. (It's like "Office Space" for servers.) It's got gross moments and low-ball comedy, but it's still amusing.

The pleasant surprise though was one I had stuck in our Blockbuster Online queue like a year ago and promptly forgot about. The Five People You Meet In Heaven is a made-for-tv movie that's an adaption of a book. And yet, it was still quite good. It was a little slow in some places and a little sappy, but in that good way. That way that you say, you know what? This is kinda touching, emotional and sweet all at the same time. If you can put down your cynicism for a moment, you'll find it's quite enjoyable and even a little poignant.

So... I think that brings us mostly to date. Two long, holiday weekends + no cash = lots of movie watching as you can tell. I haven't gotten Love's cold yet *knocks wood* and I hope I don't. I've already got cramps and that's more then enough. Oh yeah and I had a miserable stomach flare-up Tuesday. Bleck. Oh and I discovered that my face wash has been apparently discontinued. You don't know the level of suck this causes since my skin tends to literally crack open and bleed from most face washes. (A lovely side-effect of the weird glycerin reactions I get.) For some oddball reason, after trying literally about two dozen face washes, I found that the St. Ives Apricot Radiance wash for "Combination" skin was tolerable to my face. And now, they have a different line which literally feels like a chemical burn the instant it touches my skin. Joy. So I've been to two Targets, Super Wal-Mart, a CVS and two grocery stores and no one has it. Amazon has a six-pack of them, but... it's $20. And I don't have that much cash in my account at the moment. Of course there's also only ONE left in stock. Fucking joy of joys, right? By the time I'll get the cash, it'll be gone. Grr. I'm like $10 short in my PayPal account to get it. SO frustrating sometimes. Overly sensitive skin, product I can use, product disappears, chance to get a supply of it, too short on cash to get it. How pathetic is it when you don't have $20 to scrape together, you know? My kingdom for ten measly bucks to buy it.

Anyway... I think I'm going to close. Hope everyone had a safe New Year.

Hey, Hey, Hey - Goodbye
Goodbye 2006. While I have no idea where the year went, I can't say it was terribly much fun. This year saw such fun things as a root canal. *shudder* Not to mention the bill for said root canal (Which, the $300 remainder went to collections because they weren't happy with getting the $20/month I could afford to send them.) Still don't have a car, health's gotten worse and money's tighter than ever. Hooray!

Anyway, hope everyone has a safe New Year's Eve.

See you in 2007.
