Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say grow up.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

*gets off soapbox*

Week Winding Down
It's weird. I've made a point to post every day this week and haven't had any real commentary or feedback at all. It's odd. Especially on the domain journal's location. Even the crickets have left.

So it's Thursday. The temp job is closing at noon tomorrow for an early start to the 3-day weekend. They're crazy about that. They get really great holiday schedules. So, K. told me if I didn't want to come in for the 3.5 hours in the morning it's no biggie. I'll have to decide I guess. I've been coming in for six hour days - a little later in the morning - so there defintely wouldn't be any point to coming in on that schedule for a noon closing. It's just whether or not I feel like getting up and planning on being here at 8:30am or not. With the massive stomach upsets first thing in the morning all week, I'm not sure if it's worth trying or not. I mean, it's cash, not much, but still cash. It's just with how sick I've been when I get up, I don't know if I can do it. It's why I've been coming in later in the morning afterall, you know?

This morning, the power flickered off like 9:15am. But it was sunny out and not raining. There was a big rumble of thunder though almost immediately after though I suppose there must have been some lightning in the area. We had maybe 30 minutes total of rain in about three, ten-minute spurts over the last 24 hours. Really, Ernesto didn't bring us any of the rainy weather at all. It's cloudy out there today but sunny.

I've got two pairs of horns I need to make. Just haven't felt like doing it this week. Between being tired and a lot of pain in my hands, working with the clay really wasn't appealing. Need to get it done though. It drives me crazy when orders are sitting there for days. Especially since if I don't get them done soon, it'll be Tuesday before I can mail them. (Post office is closed Monday for Labor Day.) That's just so far off I don't want to wait that long. Couple nights ago, I could barely sleep for how much my hands were hurting. And both which is odd since it's normally only the left one that gets bad. Both were though and I had all this tingling in them too which was even worse. All the damp weather probably was the cause.

Still looking forward to tomorrow. I've got two packages heading my way. Yippie! I love mail. My raffle win and my spooky mail swap. Mail = teh love.

Blah, so this is boring. No wonder no one's commenting. I think I'm boring myself with this entry which I believe is a key sign it's time to shut up and find something else to do. So ta.

Dreary Wednesday
Man, it's just a bleak, dreary day outside. All thick, heavy, oppresive cloud cover. Air so thick it feels like you're pushing through a physical barrier. No sun. And worst off, no rain. At least if it's going to be all doom and gloom out, it might as well rain, right? Nope. Not today.

It's weird, we were supposed to get rain and breezy weather from Ernesto but nothing so far. Then again, it weakened so much it hasn't done much to anyone. Checking the current forecast though, I guess they're saying it's still on the way.
Tropical Depression Ernesto continues to lose strength but is still packing heavy rains and periodic gusty winds. These conditions will persist into the overnight period and for a good chunk of Thursday
It's been downgraded again. From a Tropical Storm to just a Tropical Depression. I wouldn't mind if it rained overnight. It's always nice to listen to it rain when you sleep.

So it's Wednesday. Hump day as they say. I've got two more days here for the week. I presume A. is set to come back on Monday, but she's getting her wisdom teeth removed on Friday, so I wonder how that's going to work out. Of course, I relate wisdom teeth = 2 weeks unable to chew solid food but most people aren't that bad. (They had to knock me out for mine. It was a full-on surgery since they were located under the jaw bone and needed to be chipped out piece by piece.) I guess we'll see if K. calls me or not again for next week. Despite the shitty health issues, it's been really nice being back in here. Everyone likes me, is nice and I actually like the projects I help K. with. Things like matching the expense reports with the receipts requires a little investigative process sometimes and I kinda enjoy it. I gather from conversing with K. that it's one of several things apparently A. does not like doing. In fact, I gather she's more then a litle grumpy and not entirely proficent in things. Nice enough, sure, but not exactly as knowledgable. *shrugs* I wish they'd realize their error and have me come in part-time on a perm basis. It's a pipe-dream, I know. They really need a f/t person all day, every day and it's not something my health will let me commit to. Still though, it's been nice being back here these days.

I may or may not be hanging out with my mom tomorrow afternoon. She needs to get some stuff done for my sister's wedding and wants my assistance. She also has my bridal shoes to drop off. If it's all rainy though, she may postpone until next week. I told her I'm fine with it either way since K. doesn't mind what my schedule is specifically this week. I think she'll probably push it back though since she'll want me to get the hours instead. I'm fine either way though, so we'll see.

Beyond that, there's not a lot going on since my days have been spent, well, here! I have a mass of freakin' work to do on my forums. 80 members awaiting approval on one and like 50 on another. I can't do it here though since all the confirmation emails at at my house. It's aggravating since it takes so much time and by the time I get home, I don't want to sit there for a couple hours and get caught up. Of course, the longer I don't get caught up, the longer it'll take me to do when I finally get around to it. The problem is I have to manually go through and approve them while weeding out the damned spammer accounts. It's irritating that people make my life difficult by making bullshit spammer accounts advertising enlargement/diet/prowess/pr0n crap. No one gives a flying fuck jerks, so just give it up already!

Anyway, I'm down to about a half an hour left in the day. Yeah! I think I've run out of actual content to post as well, so I suppose I'll wrap up. Hope everyone's having a nice Wednesday. Ciao!

Bright And Sunny Tuesday
Another day here at the temp job. Got in around 10:20am today. Was planning on doing the 10-5:30pm schedule we were originally going to use if I came on full time, but my stomach rebelled and pushed me a little late. I was so terribly naseous this morning. I mean just awful. (And no, I'm absolutely not pregant. Perish the thought!) Anyway, it was surpremely miserable. I was still very urpy when I came in but I figured I might as well try to push through. Jeez, I don't know what's going on. It's not normally so many days like this. Things are just abnormal - even for me. I just don't know what to expect. Normally, these things follow patterns, but not this time. Since Friday, it's been a rollercoaster of pain and unpredictable upset/symptoms.

So, Ernesto is moving ever stedily onwards. It's still only forecasted for a tropical storm when it hits, but it's creeped a little more north-westward. (More towards my side/part of the state.) Looks like it'll make landfall in central south Florida now. We're under "tropical storm watch" at the moment. It'll be hitting in the early hours tomorrow.
AT 200 PM EDT...1800Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM ERNESTO WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 23.9 NORTH...LONGITUDE 79.7 WEST OR ABOUT 135 MILES...220 KM...EAST-SOUTHEAST OF KEY WEST FLORIDA AND ABOUT 135 MILES...220 KM...SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF MIAMI FLORIDA.

ERNESTO IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 13 MPH...20 KM/HR...AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TODAY AND TONIGHT. ON THIS TRACK...THE CENTER WILL BE NEARING THE FLORIDA KEYS AND EXTREME SOUTHERN FLORIDA TONIGHT. HOWEVER...RAINS AND SQUALLS WITH TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE ARRIVING WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE CENTER.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 45 MPH...75 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS EXPECTED BEFORE THE CENTER REACHES FLORIDA.

TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 85 MILES...140 KM FROM THE CENTER.

AN AIR FORCE HURRICANE HUNTER PLANE REPORTED A MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE OF 1008 MB...29.77 INCHES.

The odd thing is that it's such a bright, sunny, warm day outside. No real breeze to speak of. Typical. It just looks totally normal.

What it looks like out my window at lunch.

...compared to...

Radar for the same time period.

People back in the old days would never know something like this was bearing down on them. I mean, granted, we won't have much in the way of severe weather to speak of, but still. There's a massive storm only 135 miles off the coast of Florida. And yet, while rain will progress our way as some of the outter bands head across the entire state, it's a normal summer day outside. Just an odd disconnect, you know?

So that's life for the moment in Florida. South Florida and the Keys are bracing, airports are closing, but most of life will go on without too terrible much disruption. I doubt any schools this far north of it's landfall will even close. Thankfully, this is another dodged bullet. Next National Hurricane Center update at 5pm EDT.

What's new in your neck of the woods?

Funny
Best. Search term. Ever. (Someone actually found my site through this exact search.)
26 Aug, Sat, 00:37:52 Google: why do cats shake their butts when they are going to attack something?

That is all.

Start of Another Week
So I'm back at the temp job again today. I didn't get in until after lunch because my stomach has been hating me the last couple days. (Damn yous, IBS flare-up!) It's not a huge deal though since K. is the most caring and understanding woman ever. She wants me to come in when I can and not to worry about overdoing it or pushing myself. I swear, the woman's a dear. Anyway, when I got in, I asked her if A. was still on track to come back tomorrow and turns out she's not. In fact, she'll be out all week. I guess she's staying in Alabama several more days to help out her grandmother and then on Friday is getting her wisdom teeth removed. So K. said to come in all this week on whatever schedule works for me, be it all day, part days or whatever. So that's cool. It's always less stress when I don't have to worry about being here exactly at 8:30am and such, you know? It's also good since it means I'll be able to earn some additional - and MUCH neede - cash.

In weather news, Ernesto's track continues to push South and East - meaning if it's current track holds it won't be anywhere near me. While this stinks for South Florida, it's Very Good News for this area. Unforunately, as far as hurricanes go, someone is always going to be hit, and that sucks, but you really rather it not be you.

As of Monday, 2pm. The really pathetic attempt at an arrow is my area.

Let's see...well, there's not much more going on to report at the moment. In fact, I've been sitting here staring at the screen for a bit. Which I suppose indicates that I should wrap it up. What always happens though is after I hit "publish" I immediately think of some little thing I intended to comment on. Generally, it's also not something worth a new post of it's own. Oh well, guess I'll just have to endure the missed chance to mention something most likely trivial. Lucky you.

Ernesto (Preliminary Update #2)
Quick note before I'm off to bed. Good news is that Ernesto has, for the moment, been downgraded to a tropical storm. The path is also moving further south from me and it's strength at landfall is dropping. The estimated time of landfall has also pushed from Thursday AM to Wednesday PM.
Ernesto weakend dramatically Sunday afternoon and was downgraded to a tropical storm. Top winds are estimated to be near 50 mph, mainly in thunderstorms to the northeast of the center of circulation. Ernesto has been moving just off the Haiti coast and interaction with the mountainous terrain of Haiti is believed to have weakened the system. Ernesto will still have interaction with the Haitian coast through tonight, which could weaken the tropical storm even more. Tomorrow Ernesto is forecast to move toward Cuba and could have a small window of opportunity to strengthen before making landfall in the early afternoon. Ernesto is forecast to remain over Cuba for about 24 hours before emerging into the Florida Straits Tuesday afternoon.

Let's hope that it continues to weaken. The more it stays over land, the more it weakens before hitting the open water again. Which means the better things will be for Florida.

As of 11pm, current National Hurricane Center projected path:

Let's hope things continue on this trend!!

I'm off to bed. Last day at the temp job in the morning.

SilverJewelryClub.com - Updates!
Ok, I've been raving about Silver Jewelry Club for awhile now. People are sure it must be a scam or a fake. But it's not. It's real, sterling silver jewerly, gemstone rings, earrings and bracelets as well as pendants, anklets and more. I've bought many an item from them and have been really happy with all of it. You can't go wrong with $5.99 TOTAL for these items. They make really great gifts too.

Well, they just improved the site. An all new redesign. Now they have four items at a time. And a new item will be listed every twenty minutes. They have large images and a countdown to let you know how much time is left for each item. This allows you more time to see items and make your purchase.

The only thing is that with the overhall, they have changed the affiliate links. As you may know, I'll get 50 cents for any purchase you make with my link. It doesn't cost you anything extra either. I know it's not a lot but it does sometimes add up. Commissions go towards things like paying off the remaining balance of my dental work for example, so it's really appreciated. It's win-win this way. :)

So if you have previously bookmarked my link, can you please update your records to use the new link?
http://www.silverjewelryclub.com/aff_process.aspx?affid=146

Thanks as always for your support!

PC Update
I've lost count of what number update this would be. It feels like it's gone on forever. Was there ever a time my pc once worked...?

Anyway, the good news is that I'm currently typing this up from my normal hard drive. After experiements last night and today with the ram, it seems that one of the three slots is the cause of the software crashing. I tried three different sticks in the same slot and each time any of the sticks were in that slot, BAM!, crashing resumed immediately. Take it out and leave that slot empty, no crashes.

So I guess I'm just not allowed to have more then 512mb ram. Heh. (I only have three slots and only 256 sticks.) Oh well. I'll take less ram if it means I can have my computer back. Let's keep fingers crossed that things remain stable sans the third stick of ram and that I can catch up like ten days worth of missing pc access.

In non-pc news, my stomach has been on a hellpath again the last few days. Friday, Saturday and today - each day getting worse. Blah. I just hope it settles the hell down since I'm supposed to be at the temp job one more day tomorrow. And at the rate this flare-up is going, that's not possible. Grr.

Alright, just a minor entry for the moment because I'm giddy about possibly having my computer back. More either later or tomorrow.

Hurricane Ernesto
Joy. The new projected path for Ernesto is in:

Forgive the crudeness of the picture, I only have paint on this hard drive to work with. Still though, I think the point is clear?

It's currently projected as a catagory 3 to hit basically right where I live. I repeat: joy.

Time to get everyone wishing, praying, willing, casting and anything else you do that it doesn't come here. I don't have the ability to leave, have no money or credit cards, have no renter's insurance and would be royally and utterly homeless if it wiped out our complex. Not to mention we're in Evac zone "A" because my complex backs up against a preserve that's right on the outter edge of Tampa Bay. We can't leave even if we need to since our car wouldn't get us to Orlando (60 miles away) let alone out of the state.

Hurricane paths are completely subject to change and things do happen up until a few hours out of landfall. Still though, it's very uncomfortable knowing that ALL the computer models are putting it on this kind of course now. You can keep up with paths on the National Hurricane Center.

So far though, my week isn't looking so great.
