Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say grow up.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

*gets off soapbox*

Dress Shopping
So we hit David's Bridal today and my sister was really good about asking what the two of us were interested in and what we liked. In the end, we picked up a dress which turned out to be discontinued and marked down to $29.99!! (From $165!) It'll still run me about $70 in alterations but that's going to put it around $100 total instead of $235 like it would have been. It was their favorite and my second favorite. There were a lot that were downright butt ugly. Things that looked ok until you put them on. Bleck!

Looks like this though only in this blue:

It's got a halter front and a ribbon "belt" that goes around to the back. In the back, it's got a V-inset with a light toupe color on the underside. It's got a light irridecence to it as well. Mine will need to be taken up (obviously) and in around the halter a little but otherwise, it fit well. And the blue color is much prettier then the pink color. (Which was the one we had to try on since it was the only color that had.)

The dress isn't exactly useful again unless I went to like the Opera or something really fancy, but it's nice. And my sister's dress has a V-inset on the front, so she thought this would coordinate nicely with that. Plus, there's a broach on the back which will help give a little "bling" since her dress has a lot of pretty beadwork.

I've also discovered I need to make a "bridal" section to my site. Jeez! They had these simple (but pretty) Swarovski crystal necklaces at her bridal store that were like $130!! I'm cleraly missing my market. I'm seriously going to get some nice crystal and pearl type beads and work on making some items suitable for bridal.

Alright well, I'm working on dinner - I'm starving! - but I thought I'd update with the dress. Worked out well and much faster then any of us thought it would. The dresses will be in around the end of July then we'll go back for fittings and alterations. Plenty of time to get it done before her wedding in October.

'K...Ta for now.

Always a Bridesmaid...
Actually, this is the first time I'm going to be one. My sister's getting married on October 27th and she asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. Tomorrow, I'm going to meet her and her Maid of Honor to look for bridesmaid dresses. I have no idea how this is going to work out. She's not sure of the colors she wants yet so she wants us to try some stuff on and see what she likes. I've never done this kind of thing before and I oh so very rarely wear a dress. I hope she doesn't opt for strapless. I'm awful in strapless dresses. I can never get a strapless bra to work for me. Oh jeez, and I hope we don't have too high of heels. Eep! A small heel is ok, but I'm no good in tall heels.

Is it wrong to be totally nervous about just shopping for a dress? I'm kinda at the whim of what my sis and the MoH want as well. It's going to be interesting too since I'm a small, petite woman and her MoH is a tall, larger woman. Not sure how it's going to work out finding something for both of us.

Did I mention eep?

One Storm Down
...who knows how many more to go.

TS Alberto has come and gone. Last night the power kept going off and I had to get up all night to hit the a/c breaker back on, but this morning brought sunshine. Mika (my tubby tabby girl) was back dozing in the master bathroom waiting on her daily sunbeam. It got a little cloudy during the day and some of the tail end of the storm was expected to bring some last gusts and rain, but it stayed pretty clear around me. We got some rain and some coastal areas are having problems with some flooding - the high tides cause the storm surge to flood low-lying areas - but all-in-all, no problems here. Alberto went quite a bit north, hitting closer to Tallahassee. We might get some scattered showers tonight and tomorrow, but it's done for here.

Got My Eye On You
In non weather news... Somehow, I developed a stye in my right eye. Bitches! Apparently it's common and all it takes is a little bit of bacteria getting in or around the eye. It'll go away in a few days all on it's own, but in the meantime, it's irritaing. Not painful per se, but like...you know when you get a little cut and it stings? And despite that it's a little cut, it annoys you? Not enough to be more then that, but enough that it's irritated? Yeah, it's like that. Dammit. It's right on the inside corner of my right eye. Sometime over the weekend, I must have gotten something on my hands and then rubbed at my eye. I think I was in elementary school the last time I had one. I feel so silly. At least it's not pink eye. Love got that a few months ago. That was gross. (And way more embarassing!)

In Closing
Um... I've been sitting here, staring for about ten minutes now. I'm sure there was more I was going to talk about but damned if I remember. I keep trying to rub my eye - right now, it's more annoyed then not and it feels like I have a little bit of sleep gunk in it even though I don't - so the whole writing thing kinda short-circuited. Whoops.

I'm still really rundown lately. I'm so tired today I can barely keep my eyes open. I got up, was up for a few hours and had to lay back down for an hour or so around lunch. Then, after we ate dinner, I started dozing off on the couch. I don't know what's with me. It's serious fatigue though. Highly annoying when you're not really tired and you don't want to sleep, but your body takes over and renders you unconscious anyway. Bleck. Stinks for maintaining mental clarity or getting anything done too. I've been having a better time of my chronic fatigue issues the last couple weeks, so maybe, I'm just back on the other side of the cycle. Sucks either way though.

Alright, there's things I really want to do, so I guess I'll wrap this up. No promises that I will manage to get them done but I have updates for PhoenixFire Designs to get working on and hopefully, some items to sell. It's been slow on the business front for a couple months now. I need to get things going again. That extra income, while not a lot, helps. And I miss it when it's not there.

TTFN.

Pop! Goes the Power
Ugh. Damned power keeps going off. BAM it dies. Then it comes back up and BAM dies again. It's highly annoying because the damned cable box takes about 10-15 minutes to reboot every single time. Not to mention, the a/c breaker pops when it goes down hard like that. ARG! Another bad brown out and down. Jeez. Thankfully I have a UPS on my pc.

Tornados in the area on-and-off all evening as well. Bands keep coming through. Really heavy, then really calm. No wind or rain at all. Then a heavy band again.

Bah.

Anyway, hanging in there. Just another annoying power instability night.

The Storm
Not even two weeks into the 2006 Atlantic Hurricane season and we've already got our first storm. Tropical Storm Alberto is heading towards Florida and expected to become a catagory 1 hurricane before it arrives. Alberto V05 has already brought us rain all day yesterday and will continue the rain all day today and tomorrow. The eye is on track to hit quite a bit north from us, however, we are south-east of the eye and right in the brunt of the rain bands, meaning we'll be getting gusts of high wind and most of the rain from the storm.
...TROPICAL STORM ALBERTO STRENGTHENING OVER THE EASTERN GULF...

...NEW INFORMATION... TROPICAL STORM ALBERTO IS STRENGTHENING OVER THE EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO...AND MAY BECOME A HURRICANE BEFORE LANDFALL. FOR THIS REASON...THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO A HURRICANE WARNING FROM LONGBOAT KEY TO OCHLOCKONEE RIVER. THE STORM SURGE JUST TO THE RIGHT OF WHERE ALBERTO MAKES LANDFALL COULD REACH 8 TO 10 FEET ABOVE THE NORMAL TIDE.

..WINDS... BRIEF THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH TODAY AS THE RAIN BANDS FROM ALBERTO MOVE ACROSS THE AREA. COASTAL AREAS COULD SEE SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS BY LATE THIS EVENING. THE BEST CHANCE FOR INLAND TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS WILL BE ALONG AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 4 BY TUESDAY MORNING. HURRICANE FORCE WINDS ARE POSSIBLE TUESDAY AFTERNOON FOR THE COASTAL AREAS OF HERNANDO... CITRUS...AND LEVY COUNTIES.

Here's our current radar:

Yes, Virgina. The state IS somewhere under that mass.

And this is a closer view of central Florida.

Fun, hu? And this is just the start. The forecast for this is season is insane. Hope you guys have a less crazy start to your week.

I'll try to keep slightly more regular updates over the next 24-36 hours just so people know what's going on and so none of my friends get too worried. This one shouldn't be too bad. Just a lot of rain - several inches predicted in the next day - and some 40-50mph winds around us. It'll be a blustery storm, but we should be ok. Power will flicker out (it always does) but we're not in any real danger.
