Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say grow up.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

*gets off soapbox*

Tooth Drive: I raised $550 of $850 I need for my dental work when the other shoe dropped. One of my teeth now needs a critical root canal - over $2,000 in costs. There's no way I can come up with this on my own in the next 2-3 months. So I need your help. Please consider using one of my links below. Pass my jewelry link along to others. Help spread the word. If I were able to get $10 from 200 people, I would be there. I don't think it's that much or that hard. But I need help. Thank you.

Temping and Temp Change
Tomorrow I go in to Rand's company to cover again for Thanksgiving. The HR lady who also does all the admin work around there (including answer the phones), is going to spend the week with her family up north. It's the same gig as a few months ago. I'll be there tomorrow then Monday, Tueseday, Wednesday of next week (closed Thursday and Friday) and then the following Tuesday. So that's good. A few bucks before the holidays will certainly help. I'm the "warm body" for them, mainly there to answer the phones. It's easy enough. I can surf and read to my heart's content when the phone's not ringing.

I wish they'd bring me on perm part-time - the staff wants it and needs the help - but unfortunately, the CEO doesn't want to add me to the budget. Dammit. Not like I'd be a dent in their annual budget or anything but still. Oh well. At least I'm their go-to person when they need help or coverage. It's something anyway.

Of course, I've totally failed to adjust my sleeping yet so it'll be fun tomorrow trying to get up at 7:30am. But since it's only one day tomorrow and then the weekend to try to wrangle myself back into a quasi "normal" sleep pattern (normal for the corporate world, utterly alien to me) I should survive. Monday and Tuesday will be full days and most likely Wednesday will be a part day. (Early closure for the holidays.)

We're also finally feeling some cooler weather. Yeah for an end to mid-80's! It's been really warm the last few weeks and we've all been waiting for our first, real cold front to come in and stay.

I know for most of you, highs in the mid 70's would be exceptionally warm this time of year, but for us, it's a refreshing change towards cooler weather.

Alright, time for lunch. TTFN.

Warm Fuzzies
Both the mood and the critters. What is it about kitties that just make me smile? What is is about my girls that just melts my heart?

Gracie in mid yawn, snuggled up against the comforter

Every day, I wake up to find the girls sleeping with me. They come in and stay there all morning. Usually one at my feet and the other around my knees. Of all the places they could be, they chose to come in and sleep with me. And not just on the bed, but snuggled up, taking up a disproportionately large amount of space, right up against me. As soon as I stir, Mika comes rumbling up to me. Purring like a fiend, she headbutts me, love nips at me and walks on me. She's so happy to see me and she wants so much love. (And she wants it right now! ) Gracie comes in overnight, sleeps all night at my feet and then comes back in the morning to spend a few more hours with me.

Mika sleeping with her paw over her face like she tends to do.

It's just love. Pure, unconditional love. I wake up every morning with the girls and it just makes me smile. Throughout the day, they follow me from room-to-room and seek me out for love and affection, but nothing beats the morning slumber. I wouldn't trade that for anything.

MirrorMask
Yesterday, we went to see MirrorMask.

For those who don't know, MirrorMask (official site) is a movie by Neil Gaiman, Dave McKean and the Jim Henson company. The story centers around Helena, a 15 year old girl who works in her parent's circus and who wishes to run away to normal life. Instead she ends up in this dream world where the shadows are overtaking the white queen. It's up to her to find the MirrorMask to save the kingdom and find her way home.

It's completely surreal, fantastic and beautiful. It was also quite a good film. Mix in Neil Gaiman, Dali, the distinctive style of the Jim Henson company, Labrynth, Cirque du Soleil and the "through the looking glass"/dreamscape sense of reality and it gives you a good idea what the film looks like visually.

It's not playing in many places and each place only for a short time (and usually an artsy/indie theater, not your megaplex) but you get the chance to see it, I highly recommend it.
