online

Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say grow up.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

*gets off soapbox*

Tooth Drive: I raised $550 of $850 I need for my dental work when the other shoe dropped. One of my teeth now needs a critical root canal - over $2,000 in costs. There's no way I can come up with this on my own in the next 2-3 months. So I need your help. Please consider using one of my links below. Pass my jewelry link along to others. Help spread the word. If I were able to get $10 from 200 people, I would be there. I don't think it's that much or that hard. But I need help. Thank you.

Pot Luck Post
This is one of those handful of things to mention that are all unconnected and not enough for a post of their own kinda posts. So, it's Pot Luck night!

Cheaper?
Verizon's idea of saving you money.

Seems simple enough right? Pay online instead and save 37 cents. Except they charge you a $1.95 "convienence" fee to do so. Gee, let's think about this. I can spend the cost of a stamp, or I can pay $2 so my payment can be taken by a machine that doesn't even earn an hourly wage. Yeah. In the mail it goes, jerks.

Lost and Found
Ok, I did it. After reading from every single person I know about the amazing addictivness of Lost, I broke down and stuck the first disk on my blockbuster online. Showed up earlier in the week and Wednesday and Thursday nights, we watched the first four episodes. Dammit. Now I'm hooked and I'm all mad because there was no mail today so I have to wait until next week before my disk will get back to them and the second disk will show up. Bitches. It's all weird but compelling and I don't know why but now I - well, Love and I both - want to see more. *mutters about tv shows made of crack and their stupid want-to-see-more qualities.* Of course now I have to start going to great lengths to avoid spoilers and stuff since everyone is talkking about it all the time and of course, I'm a season behind.

1977
Besides being the year I was born, it's the year a bit of a cult-classic movie was released. Slapshot. It's a hockey movie about a fictional minor league team called the "Chiefs." It's not an overly good movie but it's memorable for me. The film was shot in my home town - Johnstown, PA. And my mom was an entra in it. The other night it came on HBO and I had to catch her scene. I snagged my camera and took a photo of the screen so the quality is poor, but it's still fun to see.

Ok, the team is coming into a town at night. There's a crowd outside protesting and booing their arrival. Mom's in the bright red and white checkered jacket.

But it gets better. They do a few close-ups on the crowd and - huzzah! - there's mom again with a pretty good close-up.

Isn't that a riot? It's so funny to see your own mom from before you were born on HBO. (The movie shot in 1976 and was released in 1977.) She said she wore that blazer specifically because it would stand out. And she's right, it does! She also told me that it was freezing that night and they stood out there hour after hour doing the scene over and over again. In the scene, the Chiefs moon the crowd. I wonder how many times my mom had to look at the pasty white asses of the players?

Ok, so there you go. Blogger Pot Luck. TTFN.

Odd Dream
Ever have one of those moments in a dream that just stick with you? That resonates for some reason, vibrating down into you long after you've awoken? It doesn't seem like anything overly powerful but for some reason, you can't shake it.

In the dream, I was thinking of the song, "1999" by Prince. And chuckling at the lyrics. "Two-thousand, zero, zero, party over - oops! Out of time!" I remember the one year we hit a club for NYE and it was 98/99 and they kept playing that song. Then I thought how it's 2005 and boy, he was wrong. It prompted a chuckle of amusement.

Then the dream shifted. Completely like it wasn't mine anymore and it went very dim and darkened. A figure which might have been male or female - I couldn't tell, though "felt" more masculine - who I couldn't see really or make out any feature or visuals appeared. With a deep sadness of someone who knows a terrible secret and carries a burden of pain, he (?) said to me, "2000 was the start of the end of the world. You just don't know it yet."

It went into something else entirely then and the rest of the night was full of my other, normal dreams. But when I woke up those words were still ringing in my head. How creepy. *brr* And it got me thinking how true something like that could be. Looking back, it's always such small things which start disasters. It's the tiny action, inaction or motion that leads to the chain of events. At the time, people never know that what they are seeing is a pre-cursor to something they'd never imagine. And it's only in hindsight can we trace back these terrible events in time and see where they all began.

I don't know. I'm not saying it's true. Then again, I guess in fairness I can't say it's not either. But it's been sitting with me and I thought if I wrote it down, I could get it out of my head a little.

Makes you wonder though when you have odd moments like that. Makes you question things; makes you look again at the interconnectiveness of energy and life. And it just makes you pause and take a closer look at the world around you.

New Jewelry Items!
The first of many updates, here's a sneak peek at a handful of new items live on PhoenixFire Designs. I've been hard at work making new items just for the holidays and it's a lot of work getting it all updated, but here's some of what's been added.

Necklaces

Genuine Swarovski crystal cube chain dangle necklace in soft shades of beige and pink

Beautiful hand blown glass necklace with teardrop center pendant in the vibrant blues and greens of the ocean

Pink and Green Pearl with Glass Rose Bead Necklace

Earrings

Genuine Swarovski Crystal Dangle Earrings in Purple, light green and lavender

Genuine Swarovski Crystal Dangle Earrings in AB Clear, Green and deep Red

Genuine Swarovski Crystal Earrings in Gorgeous Amethyst Purple Cubes and bicones

And....something I know you'll like because I'm loving it myself...It's not even live on the site yet, so this is a sneak preview.

Swarovski Crystal Holiday Bracelet

There are more bracelets I need to update and you'll love them too. I'm telling you, custom, handmade wearable art is the way to go this holiday season. I'm so excited to share these great new pieces. I mean look at how much Swarovski charges for a beaded bracelet! You can not go wrong with the quality, the beauty of crystal. Other sites on the web offer peices at double my prices. Trust me, it's not because mine are lower quality, it's because they're ripping you off!

I hope you enjoy these new items and there's more to come!

Library Love
Oh my gods, I love the library!

We finally got around to hitting my local library last night. And I re-discovered my love affair with it. I snagged a signed (signed!) Charles De Lint book (Handful of Coppers) and a Christopher Moore book (Fluke.) I also put like eight other books on hold that are coming from other branches. Including several hardcovers I've wanted to read but haven't had the cash for. Oh and the cataloge is online. So I just added a bunch to my booklist (from here at home! ) to remember for later. This way I can start working through some that have been on my amazon wishlist for a year or more! They also have dvds and cd's for checkout too! And just like the books, you can request movies or music from other branches. Hello food for the iPod!

The cataloge is so useful, interactive and just...useful! I really have to give it up to them, this is an amazing change from the last time I was at the library (two counties over) about ten years ago. Back then, they were just getting rid of the card cataloges and putting in monochromatic computers that were slow, irritating and a beast to work with. Nothing like this. Full interactivity from the branch or your own desk. It's just amazing. I love books and I read at least a novel a week so I'm in heaven having all these options right here, for free. It's just amazing.

Speaking of books, I'm thinking of putting together a master list of a bunch of books I have to sell. They're all in pristine condition, read once, non-smoker and no funky mold/mildew smell or mustiness to them. I'm thinking of selling them for a few bucks each. Maybe someone might want some for themselves or for the holidays. And of course, I can use the cash for the tooth fund. Thoughts? I don't want to use ebay or amazon since they charge too much. Think I'll have luck getting some sold just through friends and word-of-mouth?

I have a bunch of updates for PhoenixFire Designs to talk about but I'll save that for it's own entry. I've been a busy bee trying to get ready for the holidays. (And hopefully a holiday rush of orders!

TTFN.

M Recommends - Better Then Boullion
Yeah I know I said I was going to go eat but I remembered something I have been meaning to share. Anytime I find an exceptionally good product, I try to pass it along. Better Then Boullion is one of those products.

First off, I get mine at my local supermarket. (Publix for those of you in Florida.) It's around $5 a jar, but with 38 uses a jar, it's really not a bad price. What makes it so very good is that it has NO Monosodium Glutamate. (Commonly called, "MSG") MSG is an excitotoxin. These chemicals actually damage your brain's neurochemistry. They also fool your brain into thinking things taste better then they really do. It's also been linked with obessity for that very reason. Because it damages your brain's natural response to taste, foods without MSG start to taste worse to you. People who suffer from migraines have long known to avoid MSG but it's not just us that should take notice. It's a real and present danger in our foods. It's literally a poision.

Which brings us to the Better Then Boullion. This stuff is fantastic. I've been using it for months. It works well anywhere bullion is called for, has an amazing taste, has no checmicals and even comes in Certified Organic versions. I've already turned several people on to it and they all love it as much as I do. You can get it in a variety of flavors from veggie, chicken, beef and even ham, lobster, clam and mushroom.

So with the holidays coming and everyone getting ready to make gravys and stuffings, stews, soups and other receipes that call for boullion, try this instead. You'll really like it and you can't go wrong with something that tastes good and has added health benefits.

(Please note, there's an entry immediately below this one from about a half an hour prior to this one that's more entry-like.)

Insert Entry Here
Yeah I've been kinda slacking in the journal entry department. I know. The last couple days I've been feeling like I'm getting sick. Which sucks because it's neither progressing nor getting better. I'm just at that stage where I'm rundown, tired, achey and my nose is driving me bonkers. I'm sneezing all the time and my nose won't stop running. And not the normal running either. The (I'm sorry, this is gross) really thick, gunky bit when you blow your nose. Ugh. Nasty. I'd just like this to either hurry up and get through my system or go away. The days of on-the-edge of being sick just sucks.

I've been trying to work on some new items (and update items that are ready but not live) for PhoenixFire Designs. I'm hoping some people will keep my jewelry in mind for the upcoming holidays. Handmade, wearable art really is a nicer gift then whatever impersonal trinket you'd find at the mall. Trust me on this one. Last year, I gave Love's aunt a custom version of a necklace she had complimented me on and she loved it. I always hear her express how happy she is to wear it, how much her friends and co-workers compliment it and how much she enjoys the one-of-a-kind piece. If you don't see what you want, no problem! Email me (phoenixfire[at]phoenixfiredesigns.com) and I can custom create something for you. Thanks to those of you who've contacted me so far to do just that. I know your friends and family will really enjoy their unique items!

Also, for the holidays, now's a great time to sign up for webhosting through Dreamhost. All you need is code: MISSM25OFF and you'll save $25 off of your hosting. Whether you opt for monthly payments, yearly (which comes with a $50 savings already!) or other, you'll get $25 off automatically. I use them for my PhoenixFire Designs site and they give you a psychotic amount of bandwidth, storage and features. They come personally recommended.

Well it's 4pm and I haven't even eaten anything today. So I'm going to grab a small snack before Love comes home. Don't want to totally ruin dinner but I'm hungry. What I really want to do is crawl back in bed, but I think I'll try not to give into the urge. I'm just so damned tired. Stupid almost sick state.

Ta for now.
