Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say grow up.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

*gets off soapbox*

Tooth Drive: I raised $550 of $850 I need for my dental work when the other shoe dropped. One of my teeth now needs a critical root canal - over $2,000 in costs. There's no way I can come up with this on my own in the next 2-3 months. So I need your help. Please consider using one of my links below. Pass my jewelry link along to others. Help spread the word. If I were able to get $10 from 200 people, I would be there. I don't think it's that much or that hard. But I need help. Thank you.

Tropical Storm Watch
Cool. New info from the National Hurricane Center put us in the "tropical storm watch" catagory for Wilma.

(I'm in the area I circled and pointed at with the arrow)

It's nasty outside though today. It's SO humid you feel like you can't breathe. And while it's overcast, it's not rainy. It's just heavy, oppressive air. We're looking rain tomorrow and Monday though. But after that...! Oh, it's a beautiful thing:

It's our very first cold front! Oh joy of joys. Highs in the 70's. What a beautiful thing. And it's going to get into the 50's overnight? Brr! That's downright freezing for us. Especially this early in the season. I know you guys up in the more northern states can't understand over night lows of the 50's being cold, but trust me, it's damned cold for us.

So, all-in-all not a bad forecast for this week. And while some muggy weather today and some rainy weather tomorrow and Monday, not a bad track for Wilma either. And Wilma is weakening in general and won't be too bad when it does hit us. Not to mention, they're expecting it to fly over the state exceptionally quickly. The faster it passes, the less damage it does.

No other real updates. Just some weather commentary. (Thrilling, no?) Ciao.

Feeling Better & Reminders
I'm feeling better. No repeats of the other night. Best I can figure is that we tried this new mix to add to make the meatballs. We'd never tried it before. And while the ingredients looked harmless enough, my stomach must have said no way. Everything else I've had before for years - the sauce the pasta, etc. - with no problems. I don't think the meat was bad 'cause Love didn't get even remotely sick from dinner. Not even so much as an upset tummy. So I'm going to guess that something about the seasoning packet was a big no for me but no problem for him. Ah well, live and learn I guess. Won't be getting that again though, that's for sure!

Reminder #1: There's still enough time if you wanted to get some horns to get your order in. At least within the US. Priority mail is only $4 ($2 more then normal shipping) but gets there in 2-3 business days anywhere in the country. So if you were thinking about it but thought it was too late, just email me (phoenixfire[at]phoenixfiredesigns.com) and let me know what you want. You can still get them in time for Halloween. Honest. Take a peek at the styles.

Reminder #2: SilverJewelryClub.com is going to wrap up their chance to win a 1ct. diamond solitare ring on the 31st. It's a value of $8,400 and every purchase made from October 1st through October 31st gets you an entry automatically. With their jewelry being only $5.99 total, it's worth taking a peek, grabbing a couple items, putting them away for the holidays and getting your entry in now. If you do, please use my link since I get 50cents per sale. I'm still hoping it may add up because it goes in the tooth fund just like horn/jewelry sales.

Erm....I thought I had something else to add. But now my brain took a big poop and I can't remember what I was going to type next. *ponders*

I need Halloween costume ideas. And not something generic either. (Like I don't want to just wear black pants and horns or something. I want to think about a real costume idea.) Possibly something that is Disney related. Something that can be worn for the evening though without being too uncomfortable or ungainly. And of course, something inexpensive. Yeah, I know. Easy, right? I've been wracking my brain but I can't come up with a feasible idea. (Tangent. Hrm. this site says it should be "racking" my brain as opposed to "wracking" my brain. Hrm. I've always thought it was with the w. Seems though that there's a lot of confusion about the two terms. Even when I looked it up in an online dictionary, I got "rack" listed as just a variant of "wrack." Odd.) Anyway, thoughts welcomed.

Alright, I need to run and empty the dishwasher really quick Put it off 'cause I didn't particuarly feel like doing it today, but Love would appreciate it if he came home and it were done. So off I go. Ta.

In Which I Lose My Lunch
...Or dinner as it were.

I got so sick last night. Out of literally nowhere. We made dinner (spaghetti with meatballs.) All was fine. About an hour and a half later, I felt like I had heartburn. Very suddenly. Then I felt like I was going to be sick. I was about 30 seconds later. Violently. I lost everything I'd eaten. And I have no idea why. My stomach wasn't hurting. Love ate the same thing as me and didn't get sick. I throw up maybe once a year if that and yet, this wasn't like an optional thing. Just out of nowhere, bam, really, really, really sick.

It was absolutely horrible.

I ate some saltines and drank some ginger ale later on. But I didn't eat again because I felt sicker after throwing up then I did before. (I don't understand people who feel better after being sick. I always feel worse.) Got up this morning and my stomach's been killing me. I'm not sure if it's from basically not eating yesterday (hunger type hurting) or if it's still bad from yesterday (sick type hurting.) I often can't tell with my stomach because it's not normal and it hurts in varrying degrees almost all the time. It's pretty much impossible for me to know the difference between hungry and sick. It feels the same to my stomach. Anyway, I just tried a bowl of cereal. Let's hope for the best. I do NOT want to go through that again.

*shudders*

It's bad enough getting sick, but it's even worse when you don't know why you got sick in the first place. It makes you paranoid it's going to happen again.

Wilma Comes
So yeah. This is cheerful. A quick search of google news gives me:

Wilma Winds Hit 175 MPH as Storm Heads for Florida
Wilma becomes strongest Atlantic storm on record
Record-breaking Hurricane Wilma heads for Florida
Third Category 5 hurricane breaks record
Wilma, fiercest hurricane, threatens Mexico, Fla
Wilma Strengthens to Most Powerful Atlantic Storm Ever

Greeeat.
The barometric pressure in Wilma's center was 882 millibars (26.05 inches), the lowest ever recorded in an Atlantic Ocean hurricane, the center said. The lower the pressure, the greater a storm's intensity. The previous record was set in 1988 by Hurricane Gilbert, which had a reading of 888 millibars.

Super great.

Here's the current projected track. But some models are pushing it further north:

(I'm in the yellow circle))

If it comes this way - towards Tampa Bay - I'm utterly screwed. I don't have any money to my name, my car can't drive me to Orlando, let alone out of state (4-5 hour drive), I don't have a single credit card and I don't have anywhere to go. Much as I don't want Miami to get it, right now, I'm in the every-man-for-themself mode. I don't even have renter's insurance so if it came through here I'd literally be homeless.

Jeez. I need this like I need a hole in my head. It's bad enough I'm already overwhelmed by trying to do the impossible and raise over two thousand dollars, now there's a massive hurricane heading towards my state.

Joy of fucking joys.

Break in Weather
We've finally had our first small break in the oppressive summer heat. Saturday it only got up around 85F and Sunday was around 83F. Sunday was beautiful too - a breeze and lower humidity. Yesterday and today have been around 84F as well. Today we've got only 45% humidity. Which makes such a difference.

It was funny because you can tell the tourists from the Floridians this time of year. The tourist says, "Man, it's so HOT!" and the Florida resident says, "Ah...it's such a cool day out!" For us, a day that's only 85F is a miracle. And if it gets into the low 70's at night, it's positively frosty for us. We've been in full Summer Hell Mode since about April, so we're all at the point where we are more then ready for the days to stop scortching us.

Looks like tomorrow and the day after we'll bump back up to around 90F but then it calls for another cool front. The difference between a day in the low 90's and a day in the mid-80's is much more significant then you'd think. It makes everything just a little bit easier to bear when we start getting hints of more regular, cooler days to come.

A reminder, there's just over a day left on the ebay horn auctions. So if you were thinking about it, it's not too late. Also, you can always still order a pair direct from PhoenixFire Designs.

Updates
Thanks to everyone for your kind comments and emails. Thank you also for forwarding my links and thank you to those who put in some horn orders.

I've updated PhoenixFire Designs with a handful of new earrings and a new Swarovski Crystal Choker.

>(Click here for details and ordering info)

(Click here for new Swarovski Earring details and ordering info)

I still have more necklaces to get photographed and listed. I also have more bracelets. (Including a match to the new purple crystal choker above.) It's not too late to get your Halloween horn order in - there's a few pairs still on ebay as well as the three galleries on PhoenixFire Designs. Plus, I can always do custom orders in different colors/styles.

I know this post is all business but I'm just trying to focus on things like this right now. If I can get through this period without letting myself wallow and dwell too deeply at it, I might just survive. So I'm sorry if I'll be lacking in more personal updates for the time being. I just don't want to trigger myself and my depression.

Out for now. I've got some orders to get ready to ship tomorrow.
