Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say grow up.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

*gets off soapbox*

Yummy!
Someone just knocked on the door. This is an unusual event around here during the day. Generally, there isn't any reason for anyone to be coming by. Imagine my surprise when it was the UPS man! With a package for me nonetheless! After signing for it and tearing it open, inside I found the yummiest smelling surprise...

Demeter Angel Food Pick-Me-Up Cologne Spray

I've only been totally lusting for months to get this. It was a belated birthday gift from the super fab, Lorena! Wow. It smells so nice! And double wow, the "1.0 fl oz." description makes it sound small, but it's not. It's a really good size bottle. There's a LOT more then I thought. Plus, it even came in this totally cool little black Sephora pouch. All-in-all, I'm way more impressed and giddy then I even thought I'd be.

Super thanks, Lorena! I love it so much, I couldn't wait to babble about it here. Weeeeeeeeeee!

More Ezboard Discussion
Sorry to those of you who weren't part of my boards that keep having to hear about it. I'm just trying to get the word out in the best ways possible. The attack has been reported now, so expect more news articles soon. (So if you weren't sick of hearing about it yet, you might soon be.)

Everyone that has an ezboard, even if it appears that your board is ok is advised to close it for the moment to the public. The reason is that the data that was "deleted" may yet be partially recovered. But only if new posts and new topics don't override the data. (For those of you who don't know how it works, in simple terms, on computers, when you delete data, it isn't actually removed off the hard drive. It's simply marked as ok to override. With certain software and skills, sometimes this data can be recovered. But not if new data has overwritten it. Make sense?) So if you haven't already, please lock/hide your forums so preserve as much data as possible.

And for those of you who were members of my message boards, we have two temporary sites set up to keep up to date with news, developments and to keep conversations going during this downtime. DDD members have a new LJ Community here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/dddcom/ and EM members have a new forum hosted here: http://www.giveneyestosee.com/forum/.

It'll be bad enough if we lose years of discussions but it'd be worse if we also lost our communities. Come by, join up and chat. No matter what happens with ezboard, neither will be closing for good and this is how to keep in touch in the meantime.

Thanks.

Ezboard Update
Well this sucks. Bad.
Updated Announcement
Dear ezboard Family,

On Tuesday May 31 ezboard's systems were the victim of a very precise and malicious internet attack. This attack resulted in the loss of a significant amount of current and historical board postings and interrupted services across all systems. I deeply apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused and am here to give you the first of several in-depth updates.

At this time most board management services have been restored and our goal is to have post/reply repaired on Wednesday . We are working to restore board data from our back-up systems. This will take some time, and complete data restoration may not be possible, but it is what we are working towards. What we know now is that the attacker deleted current board and back-up data. We are taking the fastest route to restore data, but it may take up to 48 hours to get data back to approximately 9,000 boards. A more manual method requiring upwards of seven to ten days is required to restore data to the other boards that lost data. Regrettably we may not be able to restore data to all boards that lost data.

Second to restoring board data we are gathering information on how the attacker went about his or her business and what evidence was left behind. We are using this information to reduce the opportunity for future attackers as we build our new release. Should you hear or read anything about this attack we would love to know about it at legal@ezboard.com.

You should be aware that there is no evidence that personal information was touched. There was also no opportunity to see or download credit card information as ezboard does not keep credit card numbers on file.

Again, I apologize to you for any inconvenience caused as we value your participation on ezboard today and as we move towards an exciting - and more robust - version of the experience. We are working to restore your systems as fast as possible. Gold Board managers will be receiving information on GB subscription credits in the next few days.

We we keep you updated as the restoration progresses.

Sincerely,

Rob

Regrettably we may not be able to restore data to all boards that lost data. Son of a fucking bitch. Five and four years of posts on two boards may be gone. Or mostly gone. And we won't know for upwards of two weeks.

Damn.

Intensity of Storms
Before all the ezboard oddness (which still isn't anywhere near resolved), I had planned on writing an entry about the storms last night. It was insane. I can't recall the last time we had such an intense set of storms.

Sometime after 4am, Love and I both woke up to a hard downpour. But more then that, the lightning was hitting so hard and fast it was like a strobe light. And of course, with lightning comes thunder. Massive, rolling peels of it, one right on top of another, racing through the clouds and shaking the very buildings. There is a reason that not only Florida, but this area of West-Central Florida is the Lightning Capital of the country and ranks in the top list of locations in the world.

It's impossible to describe the sheer, raw force of the storm last night. Just as the storm started to move on, a second cell came right in it's place. We had almost two hours of non-stop storms. It got so bad that after awhile, I actually pulled the covers up over my head to stop the strobe-effect from the lightning. Doesn't matter if you close your eyes and have your mini-blinds pulled closed; when the lightning is almost constant, your world becomes piercing flickers.

Which brings me to right now. More storms are moving in off of the Gulf. They're on their way this very moment. I step out onto my balcony and I see the sky is already flashing over and over with high cloud lightning. Soon, it'll be upon us again.

It's facinating and terrifying all at the same time; the sheer power of Nature in all Her glory. Tonight, we get an encore performance. It's going to be a hell of a night.

Edit 11:10pm To show how bright just this cloud lightning is - not the full bolts to come - take a look at these two shots.

The first is my parking lot at night normally, the second is mid sky lightning burst.

Ezboard Down/Errors/Missing Posts/Etc.
Yes, everything is all totally fucked up right now. I can't get to one of my boards and I can get to the other but there's nothing there. It's pretty much system wide. For anyone worried, it's not just you.
From Ezboard's Help Forums:

Here is a summary of the symptoms resulting from today's ezboard server issues:

1) Certain boards and forums are missing topics.
2) Various request errors are hindering boards (when opening certain topics, when replying, etc.). The problem where boards' main pages were giving a request error should be fixed, though.
3) Some boards have reported losses of funds from their Community Chests.
4) Various boards' user member lists have lost a number of users or gone blank(?) .
5) Certain boards' security logs have gone blank.

Along with our technical operations department, we have been and are continuing to work on the solutions to each of these problems. Until we are able to come up with specific instructions for each issue, please sit tight. We will make each set of instructions available as soon as possible.

On behalf of ezboard, I apologize for the inconvenience and thank all of you for your patience (we apologize for the lack of an immediate update, but we have also been hindered by request errors and time-outs when trying to post here). Again, we will update this topic as frequently as possible.

I still get the request error, so despite it saying it should be fixed, it's apparently not entirely corrected.

Sit tight. There's nothing I - or anyone - can do until it's fixed. Hopefully, that will be sooner rather then later. And hopefully, a full restore will be possible. I'll update if I learn anything else.

Edit: Update 4pm EDT
It's now possible to actually view most forums, however, many are still missing some or even all of their topics. They're still reporting that they're working on it.

South Park Character
Blatently stolen from Kjersti, I present my South Park Character.

Ta da!

And, just because it was too funny not to, here is a gift for Lorena as well. May I present Peter Pan himself?

HA! (It's the 5 O'clock shadow I especially like.)

So there ya go. Get your own here.

New (And Proud)
Ok, so I'm not quite done yet. I still have to finish the bracelets section, but I couldn't wait any longer to show off the newly redesigned from the ground-up, PhoenixFire Designs! Thanks to everyone's comments and feedback, I went with a slightly modified version of the original mock-up page. I'm using thumbnails and individual pages for all the items to help make the browsing process easier.

I've also set up pages with information about me, the site, and related so that there's a little more meat to the domain. I thought it might help for people to know a little more about who I am and such when coming to the site.

There's also new items up! (Click any image to go to it's full page)

So, please take a peek and tell me how it looks. All week I’ve been working hard at getting together a new format and new images and new presentation. And I’m almost done. I have one section (bracelets) to finish, but my excitement couldn’t wait for me to share it live. I know most people are pretty jaded about web design. They know how to do these amazing things with code. I’m not one of those people. So, while it may not appear so, this overhaul from scratch meant hours and hours of work over the course of an entire week. Thus, I’m proud.

I hope you enjoy.
