Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say grow up.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

*gets off soapbox*

Gasp, Shock, Horror
I'm just going to come right out and say it. I know most of you will fall over at my statement, but it needs to be said.

I really don't give a damn about episode III.

I know. I'll give you a moment to catch your breath.

Here's the thing. I like the original triology. I do. I'm a big Sci-Fan which is no secret. The first movie came out a whopping nine days after I was born, so I didn't see the movies until I was in High School. I never grew up with the psycho obession of SW. When I did finally see them, I really enjoyed them. And I went to see the "Special Edition" in theaters. I even bought the collector's VHS set that came out at that time.

But, George old boy, you lost me a long time ago.

I refuse to buy the new and seriously lacking in improvement special special edition dvds. Love borrowed them from a friend and they were horrific! All the bloated explosions and the useless additions of background and scenery. Not to mention how utterly poorly the space scenes looked! For movies he supposedly spent years re-touching, how could he have missed the glaring matte lines and color distortion around the ships in space fight scenes?? Oh gods, it was so bad. And so silly next to the cgi that was plastered in there. A little touch-up could have removed that so easily, and yet, it seems they decided to bloat the movies rather then touch them up.

Anyway. I also saw the first two of the second trilogy in the theaters. And they were crap! Man oh man, were they stinkers! Between Jar-Jar and bad acting and annoying pointless scenes and Superball Yoda (poor, poor Yoda) they just were terrible excuses for prequels. If Lucas didn't already have everyone so hyped for so many years about his movies, these films would have been massive box-office flops worthy only of some MST3K action. You'd be seeing them on late night cable right after something like Highlander II. People forgave the sheer crappiness of it because it was Star Wars and thereby invulnerable to being crap.

But they were. Come on. We all know it. If you don't, you're just in denial. Every franchise has it's weak moments - look at Enterpise or Voyager. Bleck. And this whole prequel concept, while potentially interesting, was definately in the weak moments catagory.

Which brings me to Episode III. Why in the world would I fight crowds and spend $10 to see something which, even if it's better then the first two, isn't saying much? Why should I keep giving George that much credit? Fooled me on the first one. Then, silly me, fooled myself into seeing the second. You ain't getting me three times.

Eventually, it'll make it's way onto dvd. And I'll add it to my blockbuster online queue and watch it whenver it shows up. I'm really not stressing it. In fact, I feel quite liberated in being one of the level-headed sci-fi fans out there. I'm not buying it, I'm not being tricked again and my life won't end if it takes six months for me to see it. For once, I welcome the wait.

The movies take place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. And the movie theater might as well be there with it. I am not going to inflate George's head any further then it already is and I'm not going to say the prequels are better then they are. They're not and I for one won't be anywhere near a theater this weekend.

A Bit Of This And That
I haven't posted for a few days, though a slew of topics have come and gone through my head in that time. Yesterday, I was really sick to my stomach most of the day for reasons unknown. Urpy and upset. In fact, I laid down and slept for two hours in the evening because I was feeling so unwell. Today I woke up with a really bad headache. Not a migraine, something different. I feel all swimmy in the head like I'm woozy and it hurts but it's also making me feel urpy again. Like mild sea-sickness feeling or something. Ugh. I took some excedrin hoping it would help the head and I even laid down for a half hour or so, but it didn't help. And the stomach's now mad at me again. Had to take some pepto but so far, it's not really helping. I don't know if the headache is making the stomach unsettled, the stomach is giving me a headache, or they're just both upset right now for no connecting reason. Either way, it's annoying. I just feel so...ill. Bleck.

So yeah, Monday was the birthday. Love and I went out to eat at my all-time favorite place: The Melting Pot. I tend to only get it once a year or so. It's a great place. Not just because the food is delicious - and it is - but because it's an experience; it's an entire evening. The meal takes about two hours and is such a plesant chance to sit, talk and just enjoy each other's company.

Tuesday my Mom and Nanny (my mom's mom, but she's never wanted to be called "grandmother") came over to spend the afternoon at my apartment. Cake and presents and such. It was a nice day. My mom got me a lovely new purse, some neat threader earrings and a cute jar candle topper in the shape of a bat. (It rests on the outter lip of the glass; it's really cute.) She even got me pineapple filling in my cake. (I love pineapple.) My Nanny gave me two cute shirts. It was a good afternoon.

My birthday cake

I have some other assorted birthday-related photos to share too...

Megan surprised me with this cool Hidden Mickey's book. Too neat!

Jevea sent this lovely candle holder and a pretty card.

My friend Rand gave me his gift in this really silly bag. Cute, hu?

And Love got me this beautiful red leather journal.

I also got a funny card from Humble and another funny cat card from felinevamp with a Olive Gaden gift card within. Add in the card from Dawna, the incense from Belinda and the Eddie Izzard dvd from Luka I mentioned last week and you can see it was quite a nice birthday all around.

Love also got me the most beautiful roses - in the most vivid colors! - that are still almost all in full bloom. It's amazing how nice they've bloomed and how long they've looked good and smelled great. (He got some on Friday and a few more on Monday that I added into the first group, so you see it's been a nice span of days with lovely flowers.)

And they smell as nice as they look too!

So, that's the sum. There's more I've thought about ranting or bitching about, but I'll leave this entry off here. It's gotten quite a bit long enough at this point. Now if only my stomach and head will settle down, hopefully, I'll start feeling better soon. The first half of the week was going so well. Yesterday and today though - ugh!

Oh I also have a bunch of photos and updates to make on PhoenixFire Designs but that will probably have to wait until tomorrow. There's quite a backlog from the weeks my camera's usb cable was broken.

TTFN.
