Clean Laundry Underway
Yeah, so today I am over at my friend Rand's house, once again making use of his washer and dryer. Thankfully, no migraine so far today and the one from yesterday morning went away and hasn't returned. Hopefully, it was just a hormone thing or something and I can get back to not having them. A week and change of them plauging me everyday is more then enough.

The lovely Lorena sent a fabulous package of handmade soaps, bath salts and floater candles yesterday. Were I not here, I'd be trying them out right now. They smell so lovely - a Fruit and Nut scent as well as an Applemint scent. I can't wait to try them. I'll be sending her a few items in return (us crafty types always tend to appreciate the barter system because I love people getting my crafts and I love seeing the crafts of another!) including some penguins and perhaps some surprises as well. :) She made a lovely Goddess mold soap for me which is very cool so that I almost don't want to use it! But it all smells too nice not to, so I can't wait to try it all out. (And doing the laundry today means I'll have a clean towel to use when I do take a bath with it! Heh.) So, just a public thanks for the wonderful care package and a reminder that a return package will show up one of these days all sneaky like when you least expect it!

I still can't find any of my photo editing software, but a friend suggested I download GIMP which is a free, open-source image program. Anyone used it? Anyone have any thoughts on how well it works? Or any problems with XP? I'm so nervous right now since my new OS has been running psychotically stable that any moment now, it's going to realize that it doesn't normally run this well and take a header. Heh. So I'm being careful about what I install.

Anyway, beyond that, I still need to get a usb 2.0 port for my iPod. I've been able to transfer some songs over - a couple hundred megs worth - but I get an error at some point and I don't dare risk trying to sync up all 4 gigs of mp3's I have on my drive to the iPod yet. I only have the standard 1.1 usb port and windows yells at me everytime I try to sync it with iTunes and I get some transfered (oy, it takes awhile on 1.1) before I get an error. I'm sure there's a time out or something similar which is part of the problem. So, at the moment, I think I have like 80 songs on it. Just enough to see that it's pretty darned cool and I'd love to get it all onto there. Of course, I thought it'd read more like an external harddrive and I could even remove the files from my hd to free up space (not that I need it really now with 35 empty gigs on the new primary drive!) but, no, you need the iTunes software (which comes with it) and what you add to that library automatically mirrors onto your iPod. So if you remove a song from the iTunes on the HD side, it removes it from the iPod as well. It's smart and cool in some ways and annoying and limiting in others. I think it'll just take getting used to managing it locally on the pc so that it's how I want it to be on the iPod itself. Oh, and speaking of iPods, I found what I hope is a decent case on ebay for $12.99. Hopefully, it'll work since there's just no damned way I'm going to spend $29-40 on a case. Sheesh.

Well, I'm really just babbling since there isn't a lot going on and therefore, isn't a lot to chat about. Just trying to keep updating out of habit so that eventually, if anything interesting ever does happen, you know, I'll be all ready to update. Ha.
