Off for the day to go get something for both my Love and my mom for Mother's Day tomorrow. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, hu? (*whistles*) Need to figure out what to get, then go buy it, then wrap it, then figure out how to get the stuff to the folk's as well. Yeah, we're really organized.

Ta for now.

So, last night I spent a stupid amount of time, making my own online quiz. I thought by using the Quizilla site, it'd be quick and have the added bonus of not using my bandwidth, but in fact, the site is reeeeeally slow and ended up taking over three hours just because of loading issues. Sheesh. It's done though and it's pretty fun.

Nothing on the calander yet today, but then I've only been up for about 45 minutes. Had a weird phone call from a local number that caller id listed as "Metro Crime Pre" which troubled me and I didn't want to answer it and they didn't leave a message. Talked to my Love and he's ok (he's at work in the same area that the phone number was from), so I guess I'll just pass it off as either a misleading caller id name like a sales call or scam, or a wrong number. (Though it is weird).

Oooh cool! Astrology lovers take note! I get a birthday present from Luna this year!

There will be a total lunar eclipse on May 15th - May 16th. For eastern time, the peek will be between 11:15pm-12:15am. You can see a map here of the areas which will get the event. Most of North America and Western Europe get first-class seats for the event.

That's just awesome it's on my birthday! :)

Man, I have been utterly uninspired today. Got up like 11am and haven't even bothered tossing the towels in so I can have a clean one to take a shower. I haven't even thought about getting so far as to contemplate clothing. Hrm. Oh well.

[Update: 4pm] Well, I've managed to take a shower, get dressed and get a load of laundry into the washing machine with at least another two needing to go in after the first (We have half-sized stackable washer/dryer combo which is a thousand times better then coin laundry, but still makes for teeny loads).

Downloaded the four available Animatrix videos they have available and watched the first three (which were pretty neat and nicely done, though all different styles), but when I went to extract the fourth, I got an error I was out of disk space. I thought my machine was on crack until I looked and sure enough, of 19 gigs, I had only 80 megs left! Holy cow! When did that happen? Needless to say, I went through and deleted some crap and freed up about a gig and a half, but it's now officially way past updating my pc to XP by adding in a new 20gig hard drive and using it as my new primary. I need the space! Now I know why my pc's been so damned sluggish - there wasn't even room for a decent-sized swap file! Eep. Bad M, bad.

Still feeling overwhelmingly lazy and perpetually way behind on anything I had thought to accomplish today (like I still haven't given Jef a call though I keep meaning to since I've not talked to him in like a week now and I'm starting to worry), nor caught up on a ton of projects that need my attention. (Though I am proud I broke down and shaved my legs today. I was like a week overdue and had been wearing pants despite it being almost 90F outside.)

Need to get away from the pc, maybe more later.

So yesterday, my mom came over and brought back to me Kush-ka's ashes. The really nice thing was that the vet's office also sent a small vase with three red roses and a card along with it. Red I said for the love of Kush that never dies. I thought that was the nicest thing for them to do; something they certainly didn't have to do, but something that shows just how nice of a doctor and staff they really are. I cried of course, holding the small tin which is all that's left of my beloved grey kitty, and I miss him terribly.

Today, we (my mom came down with me to give me a ride) went to Petsmart because they offered a free visit for a newly adopted pet. The SCPA required that I have her checked out in a week (ok, so it's been a smidge more then that, but I didn't have the money because of pesky things like rent) and Petsmart will do that checkup for free. Wee! So, if anyone gets a new rescued pet, see if you have a local petsmart that will do the same. Mika's doing good, just has a little plaque buildup, but I got a bottle of this "Max Guard" dental solution which you apply one drop to each side of the molars and it helps break down the plaque and heal inflamed gums. The vet was a very nice woman who was very honest and upfront (we ended up discussing vaccines and tumor relations in cats and she advised vacinations once per three years to minimize the risk and to get the injections done low in a back leg because she feels it's better to have a cat with three legs and alive then lose your cat to cancer that runs down their whole body. A sad-but-true fact I know from experience) and recommended I not let her get any pudgier, but that overall Mika was healthy.

So...that's good anyway. I didn't think anything was terribly wrong with her, but you know, it's always good to hear it from a professional and to have those lingering worries and recent bad experiences with cat health concerns eliminated. Mika came through it well enough, though she really doesn't like the carrier (though I don't think there's a cat on the planet who does) and was feisty at the vet, but she tolerated it well enough and came in the door and munched down on some food, so I think she's already overcome the experience. :)

That's about it for the time being I think. Nine days until my birthday. Eep. TTFN.

Wow.....

For a girl who grew up wanting to touch the stars and be an astronaut, Murmers of Earth is simply amazing. It's a complete edition of the images and music that was included in the Voyager spacecraft launched in 1977 - the year I was born. (another good, technical link here

"The Voyager message is carried by a phonograph record-a 12-inch gold-plated copper disk containing sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth. The contents of the record were selected for NASA by a committee chaired by Carl Sagan of Cornell University. Dr. Sagan and his associates assembled 115 images and a variety of natural sounds, such as those made by surf, wind and thunder, birds, whales, and other animals. To this they added musical selections from different cultures and eras, and spoken greetings from Earth-people in fifty-five languages, and printed messages from President Carter and U.N. Secretary General Waldheim. Each record is encased in a protective aluminum jacket, together with a cartridge and a needle. Instructions, in symbolic language, explain the origin of the spacecraft and indicate how the record is to be played. The 115 images are encoded in analog form. The remainder of the record is in audio, designed to be played at 16-2/3 revolutions per minute. It contains the spoken greetings, beginning with Akkadian, which was spoken in Sumer about six thousand years ago, and ending with Wu, a modern Chinese dialect. Following the section on the sounds of Earth, there is an eclectic 90-minute selection of music, including both Eastern and Western classics and a variety of ethnic music"

The collection gives you a boxed set of the data, the production, and the complete musical selection that was contained within the craft. I think it's utterly facinating to be able to have a copy of what was sent out into the universe and since they are rare and long out of print, they're not cheap (well, $99 is a lot for me). What an amazingly neat thing though and I need to remember about this as it's definately something I want to get to pour into and immerse myself in.

So....today is May 6th (technically, though I've not gone to bed yet, meaning I think of it still as the 5th) and that means it's only ten days left until my birthday (not like the link to my wishlist is a hint or anything. *lol*) Wow. I'm going to be 26. Sheesh. It's downhill from here. I'm going into the back-end of the 20's which means the nasty-ass 3-0 looms closer and closer from here on out. Eep.

Nothing much of an entry. My mom's coming over tomorrow and she'll be picking up Kush's ashes from the vet to bring over, though I don't really want to think about that right now. I'm sure I'll do enough crying tomorrow.

*deep breath*

Anyway, that's it for now. Just hadn't made an entry and felt like babbling out something, even if it was meaningless. I'm just in the habit of writing, so it seems weird if I don't.

Ho hum. So...watched Game 5 of the 2nd round Stanley Cup Playoff game between the Lightning and the Devils (boo hiss) on Friday and the Lightning totally got robbed. The game ended up in triple overtime (they played the regulation game of three 20-minute periods, AND played three playoff 20-minute each overtime periods as well; basically playing TWO games worth of hockey) losing 2-1. What sucks about it is that NJ got the only powerplays of the entire game (four of them) and the Lightning actually won the game 2-1 in regulation, but they disallowed the Lightning goal, which forced them to try to win the game twice and they just couldn't do it. The reffing was so bad that it the Lightning season is over because of it. Not one penalty was called on NJ in 110-odd minutes of play - not one - and they wrongfully took away what should have been the Lightning's winning goal. It's one thing to play and to lose, but it's another to have the ref's pretty much flat-out cheat and rip you off in a very unfair game. Even the announcers were shocked by the calls made - and the calls NOT made against NJ. It was a sad and frustrating game and I really felt so bad for the Bolts. They really played excellent and they really did earn a Game 6.

Tonight (though the timestamp will show this for Sunday, I mean Saturday night as it's still Saturday in my mind), we went and saw X2. I liked it. I liked it a lot better then I liked the first. I am an old school, die-hard, yes-there-are-tons-of-comic-books-in-their-little-sleeves-in-a-box-in-my-closet (and the I-only-stopped-reading-them-because-I-couldn't-pay-rent-and-keep-up-my-habit *lol*) kinda X-man fan and the first one really disappointed me because all the characters were such wussies. But in this one, they were cool! Yeah for cooler usage of already cool characters! And Jean - The famous Ms. Grey herself; aka Phoenix - was Kick-ass. (can you tell she's my favorite?) I say go see it! Weeee!

Hrm. Think that's it for the moment. Ta.
