My teeth are all kinds of shifting around again and damn is it hurting. See, thing is, that when I was 13-15, I had braces. My teeth were just a mess. So now, many years after losing my retainer (not that I ever wore the thing), they're really, really moving around (especially the botom, where the tooth next to my bottom-left canine, is moving behind the others) and it hurts like hell. About two years ago I made an appointment with an office of my old Othodontist and asked if they could cast me a new retainer. He said sure, however, it wouldn't work anymore and that my teeth were past the point of that helping. He said I'd need six months in brackets on the bottom front teeth again to right the problem. It was $2,000 with half due up front.
That was two years ago and things have only gotten worse. My bottom teeth are actually pushing my top ones out of alignment now as well (though it's the bottom ones that are hurting so badly). All day, my gums and jaw are just throbbing in pain. I keep poking at it (you know when something hurts so you just press and press on it to try to make it feel better?) and biting on my fingers in an attempt to get respite from the pain. Took some asprin, but it's not really helping. Not that I want braces on my bottom teeth again (it hurt a hell of enough the first time they made them move, now they're moving back and it hurts and then I'm supposed to move then again to the "fixed" position and suffer through it a third time?), but I can't have my teeth go back to the way they were. My jaw is just too small and it took almost three years to align and correct my teeth, I certainly don't want that to be all in vain a mere 10 years after the fact! Not to mention my poor (single-parent) mom paid a LOT of money on my mouth (including two surgeries) and I don't want that all being wasted. Ugh, where am I going to get $1,000 and then the other $1,000 due before the six months is up? I hate money so much.
