< :: M's Bio :: >

I am... MemoryandDream, Memory, Mem, or you may call me "m" for short!

Gender... Female (obviously, I hope!)

I stand... 5'6"

I weigh... 110lb (just one of those people who has a very small, slender frame)

Eyes... Chameleon...they change with what I wear...blue, green, silver, red... (ok so red primarily in photos! *grins*)

Hair... Shoulder-length now...naturally curly...dark, dark, brown. (though many times it ends up assorted shades of red)

Status... Taken by a wonderful man. My Love.

Location... Hell (sometimes known as Florida)

Work... assorted corporate hell.

Musical tastes... In a word, eclectic...rock, alternative, classical, some techno...etc.

Who's in my 250-odd CD Collection...? (or my gigs of mp3's?) Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Dead Can Dance, Bush, Sting, NIN, Garbage, Stabbing Westward, Gravity Kills, Loreena McKennett, Alanis Morrisette, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Live, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Peter Gabriel, Northern Exposure Soundtrack, BNL, Fiona Apple, Enigma, Clannad, Beatles, wipEout soundtrack, Lost Boys soundtrack, Queen, Phantom of the Opera, more, more, and more...

What you won't find... Anything country ("new" or "old"), rap, hip-hop, things without some musical worthiness... Marilyn Manson, Heavy Metal, anything from the 70's...things that are too "pop" or easy listening...

Movie Preference... Well, my Love and I purchased a DVD back in the holiday season of '99, and the collection of disks first looked like this: Blade, Interview with the Vampire, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Highlander (the director's cut), and City of Angels. Themed? Ok, so yeah, I guess there is. Call us kooky, but we actually enjoy watching vampire movies. They're either fun to make fun of or to say, "Don't I wish!" Now a days, there is quite a more diverse collection including things like Dances With Wolves, Shakespeare in Love, Dogma, Office Space, The Frighteners, The Fallen and more.

Beyond that...hmm, I'm a sci-fi geek, (I admit it) and yet I can give in to my feminine side and enjoy a romance now and a again. On VHS (which has not been hooked up since the DVD player was purchased!) you'll find The Crow, just a couple of animes (Ranma 1/2 and Akira) as well as the boxed trilogy of Back to the Future. (I love time travel and these are some of my favorite all-time movies). All in all, it's another mixed bag.

Sports Preference... For me, there is only one worthy sport: Hockey. Anyone who has never seen a game needs to do themselves a favor and watch one. Fast-paced, high action, violent - sometimes even bloody - and all-around entertaining.  The other good things? You can be a fan for any team (not just your local team), hockey jerseys are cool, the season lasts for about 8 months (plenty of time to catch some games), and hockey players are known for their charity work and community assistance. (Sorry, I think it's cool when people use their celebrity for good causes.)

Book Preference... I am a voracious reader. I love fantasy and horror mainly. Things that deal with other realities are the best. I love Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series as well as many things by Terry Brooks (His  Knight of the Word series was fantastic). My favorite fantasy writer by far, however, is Charles DeLint. He is simply amazing. All of his books and stories are set in the real world, but they have all the magick and wonder in them you could ask for...generally, the stories involve normal people touched by abnormal magickal experiences... I find them very refreshing (and oddly familiar). On the other hand, I also read vampires books by the score. They are my dirty pleasure. Most of them are so campy, I can't get enough. I've read almost everything of Anne Rice's as well as so many more I can't even begin to name them.

My hobbies... Well, I paint (watercolor) and have been experimenting with digital art and digital manipulations for a couple years now with varied success.  I am also a huge movie buff (seldom a weekend goes by that I'm not catching a new flick). Someone asked me if I was into a "scene" (gothic or otherwise) or anything, and while I hate to disappoint, I'm not. I'm really a boring homebody when it comes right down to it, and when I do do things, I generally do them exclusively with my Love. Sometimes we go out to the beach and walk the shore at night. Sometimes we go downtown and stroll the park and the pier; people-watching and the like. For awhile, we were going out with our friends to swing dance (although I never left my barstool-I don't dance) and sometimes you'll find me in coffee shops sipping the tea of the day. But, all in all, I don't go out much. I don't drink (wine...hee hee), so clubs don't hold much interest for me. I get very easily annoyed at people in general. My Love and I both try to avoid conflict (knowing our general dislike of people as a whole) and so tend to stay in more often then not.

My life in a sentence...? Pretty boring, mostly mundane, stunningly stressful, yet wonderfully perfect with my Love.

My peeves...? Slow drivers in the fast lane...people who talk out of their ass like they know everything when they know nothing...being told to 'grow up' (why should I? did it make your life any better?)...politicians (republicans especially)...computer crashes after hours of unsaved work...the inability to express the things I want to say or want to show...the fact that people don't get the concept of  'plain' (if I wanted lettuce, I wouldn't have ordered it plain, now would I?)...people with automatic weapons crying 'guns don't kill people'....bad poetry (clue #1: it doesn't have to rhyme) ....fluorescent lights....ants....annoyin....people who have stupid, buzz-you-off-you-seat bass in their piece o'shit Nova next to me at a light trying to be a bad ass or something (#1 you look stupid  #2 you sound stupid #3 it pisses me off and #4 I'm in my Mustang, you're not going to beat me off the line, ok?)....retirees who do all their shopping and banking between the hours of noon and 1pm when you are pressed for time on your lunch break (if you don't work, you should be blocked access from any form of service until 1:30pm)....anyone trying to 'save' me (here's a clue: worry about your own ass buddy, 'cause I'm about to bring you real close to your god if you don't go away)....any full-grown dog smaller than my cat. (hello?? it's not a dog then, it's a rat with more fur)....AOL anything (which thanks to the new merger includes over 90% of the entire communications world *scary*).....racism, bigotry, and the general hating of any one type of person (jeez, at least get to know them before you hate them)...more more and more.....a HUGE addition to this list is Time Warner Communications....suck ass and die...more when I'm pissed off...
