Reminder...

There are people on the net that have nothing better to do with their time then be nasty to other people online. They post rude comments, spend hours a day talking about sites they hate so much, that they well, spend hours a day talking about them. (lame) They mock the owners and posters for their opinions and their right to free speech. They expect everyone to fit into their narrow-minded little world view or else they throw a temper tantrum.

To these people I say grow up.

Here's a bit of info people...the web is a HUGE place. If you don't like what I say here, or who I am, or what I do, or talk about, or what I look like, or the color of my hair, or whatever asinine thing you dwell on, go somewhere else. It's really, really easy. Honest. You just click the little "x" in the corner of your browser and *poof* the offending, big, mean and nasty site has disappeared.

I pay for this site. It's mine. That means I can use it for whatever the hell I want to. Don't like it if I'm bitching about something in my life? Oh fucking well. Go somewhere else. Think I'm stupid for expressing my thoughts? Too fucking bad, don't read them. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot this simple fact: Live and let live Don't like me, cool, fine, whatever, I don't care. This journal is NOT for you. It's for me. I'm not in it for popularity or fame or anything stupid like that. I write it because I need to write and express myself and get things out of my head sometimes. So read or don't, it doesn't matter, but don't waste my time (or yours) bitching about it.

And Then There Was Laundry
So...finally a week later, we have our washer and dryer. Oh and $45 later in hoses and plug adapter we totally weren't planning on spending...oy. But, it's here.

Sitting together in our little laundry closet

The months of being unable to wash our clothes are now over. Thank goddness. We just washed one load of towels (easily fitting seven large bath towels in there) and it's ready to go in the dryer. So far, so good.

Of course the bad news is my pc. Which is still totally screwed up. Oh well. Work in [frustrating] progress.

Have a miserable headache that wants to nudge over into full-blown migraine but of course, I really hope it won't. Picked up a few bead supplies today because I needed one charm for an order and got a few more things to work on the red crystal choker as well as an almost exact replica of this one:

Taking orders! Ready to ship in a day or two! $27

I ended up getting Swarovski crystals rather then the Czech glass I originally used as accent beads simply because I couldn't find the two-tone beads. The dangle's two-toned bead at the tip though I was able to find. So, I'll be taking orders for it as well. Questions? Feel free to ask.

Anyway, just a small hello.

Taking Orders for Red Choker
Due to overwhelmingly positive response and interest...

Red Swarovski Crystal and Silver Memory Wire Choker
Taking orders now for this amazing choker. Featuring full-leaded, authentic Swarovski crystals and Swarovski crystal silver accents, this is one beautiful piece. It's a choker, but like all memory wire items, it is perfect for those who normally do not like tight things on their necks as it expands and gives to shape itself to the wearer. It's a choker for people who hate chokers! These stones are expensive, vivid and rich. And due to overwhelming demand for it, I'm taking orders for it.

Please note. Your order will take up to a week to ship because I'm awaiting replacement stock on the components. Each one ordered will be made personally as stones are received. Act now to get on the list to get one! This is a hot item. And a damned sexy necklace if I do say so myself.

Taking orders - $35 USD

If you don't have paypal, you can email me (missm@giveneyestosee.com), put in an order and mail check or money order ($35 + $2 S&H) to:
M. Turner
PO Box 1484
Elfers, FL 34680

You have to let me know though so I will get components and reserve one for you.

Beads, Beads, the wonderful...uh, well, not fruit anyway
I just updated PhoenixFire Designs with quite a few items. My pc's held out this long. A few I haven't added yet because I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or sell it. Hee hee. Jeweler's prerogative.

All of it sitting out together...

(You can see all of them here on one page. Just put a few choice selections here for loading purposes.)

From the bracelet's page:

Purple Amethyst and Clear Crystal Chunky Bracelet

Blue and Grey Glass Bead Bracelet with Dangles

From my memory wire necklace page:

Metallic silver and bronze memory wire necklace with dangle

Two pieces I made but am not sure I'm parting with yet:

Shades of Blue and Green Crystal and Silver Memory Wire Necklace (with matching earrings)

Red Crystal and Marchasite Memory Wire Choker Necklace

So...thoughts?

Well, So Much For That
All day. Various combinations of ram sticks, slots and such all result in the same thing: reboot. I can't get more then about 3 or 4% through a virus scan before it shuts down. Violently. At this point, we're looking at potentially backing up my data and simply starting again.

*sighs*

I can't tell you how much I don't want to have to do that. It's taken me this long to get settled. I still don't have an ftp program but most everything else has been recreated in some form or another. But we're really just at our wit's end.

It might be a virus but I'll never know since we've tried four seperate antivirus programs and none will allow a full scan to complete.

It might still be a ram or slot problem, but since it doesn't seem to matter which we put where, there doesn't seem to be a solution for it.

It might be a corruption somewhere but I have no idea what, or why all of a sudden. And not knowing (nor having anyway to scan the system), I have no way of finding it.

Hell, my board itself could be going bad, causing the memory to fritz and therefore leave the blue-screen memory fault error but I don't have any way of determining that either. (There's apparently an MS tool you can use to check the error we get in the logs, but it requires you to make a floppy - I don't have a floppy drive in my pc - or burn as an .iso file - and my burner won't run in my system. So I can't use it.)

To say this situation is frustrating and agravating me is an understatment. I just want my pc to work again, not fear that it'll turn off in mid sentence (which it can and will), and not panic that all these crashes are corupting my data on the drive. I'm actually sick to my stomach over it all. We're no better off now then we were two days ago in figuring out what the hell is wrong with it!

I'm going to attempt to upload some of my photos off my camera of the jewerly I made yesterday. I'm anxious to get some feedback and I can't do that until I can get it to my pc and share it with you. Of course, I have no idea if it'll make it, but I'm going to try. Wish me luck. At this point, I'm out of other ideas. Luck seems as likely of working as anything else. (Or, if you're so inclined, feel free to curse the gremlins out of my system. Either way works. Heh.)

Alright, hopefully photos soon. *crosses fingers*

Looking for Failures
So we've been trying to track down the problem. Since it appears the errors have been memory based, it could be one of my sticks of RAM is bad. Or, it could be that one of the slots is bad. Or both. Who knows?

So we took out one stick this morning and I ran it for about an hour and a half without fail. Then, suddenly, when I walked away and came back, it had rebooted. That stick might be going bad.

Now we've swapped out that one and put in the other of my two 256 sticks and I'm trying this one. See how it works. If it crashes, then it might still be the slots. Or some incompatability which is unlikely since it's the same ram I've used all along and the problem only started in the last couple days.

If it crashes again with this one, I have some other sticks to try. If it still crashes with those, then it will probably point towards one of more of the slots being bad. The big thing is figuring out which combination is causing the problem. Since the crashing is so very random, I never know when it's going to happen. This morning, everythign was fine for quite awhile before it just lost it. Whereas yesterday, it crashed two times in a row - the second within minutes of rebooting.

I've been trying to do what I normally do and keep open the programs I normally have open at a time to make the test more even across the board. Basically, I've just been tinkering at my computers like I would normally and seeing when and if it'll go down.

Went to the PO to mail out Kjersti's tea (yeah, FINALLY!) and they were having computer problems too. Only theirs was a more amusingly ironic reason. A squirrle gnawed though a power cable (and apparently fried itself in doing so), killed their power for two hours and caused their pc's to crash. Only one was up and barely running at that when we got there. The amusing part is that it wasn't the technology that failed, it was that the entire system was felled by one over-anxious rodent.

Alright, well I'm going to publish this while I'm still up. I'm still behind on everything and everyone and my pc access is sketchy since I never know how long I have or what I can do before it crashes. Bear with me.

Update on PC Woes
PC continues to blue screen for a fraction of a second before rebooting. Even in Safe Mode. It's been turned off all day. Looking through the error log, turns out it's a memory problem. Most likely a bad strip of ram. So we're going to have to take one out, play with it, see if it crashes. If so, that's the bad one. If not, then it's probably the other.

Oy.

At least though we're narrowing things down. And it makes sense that it would happen out of nowhere. A virus didn't make sense since I haven't been anywhere nor installed anything in the last day or so. No system changes, so no chance for something new to have just gotten in. Just a piece of ram that's going bad intermitantly.

Hopefully, this means a relatively easy fix. Which would be good. Damn if I'm not sick of my pc trying to emulate the I've fallen and I can't get up lady from those old first-alert commericals.

The upside of all this lack of pc time? I made like six bracelets and three necklaces last night and tonight. So once we get the problem ferreted out, I'll post pics and update PhoenixFire Designs with the items for sale.

Ok, so seeing as I've gone both an hour today without problem and then failed after 10 minutes, I don't know when it'll crash, so I better not press my luck and close out here for now. I'll catch up on journals, blogs, LJ, forums and email afterwards.

Free iPod Guide, Help and Reminders!
Just reminding everyone about the free iPods site. I've had something like 22 people sign up and I now have TWO people who completed offers. Three more to go!

How it works: You sign up. (With a real email address that you can access.) You complete an offer. You get credit AND if you came through my link, I get credit too. So your offer counts twice. You have to do an offer for yourself anyway, so why not make it count double? Then you get your friends to do the same. You need five people to sign up through your link. Once that happens, you get a free iPod. No really.

I know it sounds too good to be true. But it really does work.

Here it is, brand new, in the box.

And here it is after I bought a leather case for it.

No shipping costs. Nothing.

There are some hints and tips to making it work for you:
If you don't have a credit card (or a check card with a visa/mastercard logo), you can get a virtual credit card online from places like Webcertificate.com. Also, if you have a PayPal business account (which is free), you can get a Mastercard checkcard through them. That's what I did and this way, I would never run risk of being charged for something that was more then the balance in my account.

In my case, I opted for the Blockbuster deal. It's like the netflix concept where you make a list online of movies you want to see, they mail them to you (up to three at a time), watch them, keep them as long as you want, then return them prepaid by dropping them back in your mail. Super easy and a really useful service we ended up keeping. You get two weeks free, $9.99 for your first month and the price has gone down to $14.99 a month thereafter. You can cancel it on the 14th day of your trial or any time you want after that. We decided to keep it since we liked it. Had it for months now and it's really useful. So anyway, I just dump $15 in my paypal account each month and it charges me there. No worries. If it's not in there, it will simply decline. So you never have to worry about losing money on something!

Some offer info and suggestions:
BLOCKBUSTER ONLINE (more info)
Time to receive credit: 2 weeks
Credit card required: Yes
Final cost to you: $0 (9.99/first month if you don't cancel & 14.99/month after that if you keep it)
How to cancel: Sign-on to your account and cancel it with a provided link

Sign up for a free 2 week trial of Blockbuster Online. The trick with this offer is that you may not cancel during the two week trial and once you complete the two week trial you will receive credit for this offer on your freeiPods.com account within 1-2 days. Basically - it takes 2 weeks to get credit for this offer. >Here is a link to the terms and conditions of this offer.

This is the one I used. And it worked well. Not to mention, we liked the service and kept it afterwards.

INFONE (more info)
Time to receive credit: 1-3 days
Credit card required: Yes
Final cost to you: $0
How to cancel: Either never make a phone call or sign-on to your account and cancel.

It is really easy to do and costs nothing although it does require a credit or check card. You will receive credit for this offer in 1-3 days. It's very easy to cancel too. This is a long distance company where you call their 1-888 number to make a long distance phone call. There are no monthly charges so if you don't make any calls this offer will cost you nothing. Simply cancel a week or so after getting credit.

This is the other one I did for Love's account. It didn't cost me one red cent. It put a $1 charge on my PayPal card but refunded it. Basically, it just wanted to make sure the card was valid. That's it. This one doesn't show up often; you have to keep checking back at different points in the day and even late at night. But it's super, super easy. You just need a phone number.

Additional offers which are recommended by others:

REALRHAPSODY (more info)
Time to receive credit: 1-2 days
Credit card required: Yes
Final cost to you: $0.99
How to cancel: Sign onto your account webpage and cancel your account.

This is another recommended offer. It will cost you $0.99 though which isn't a big deal in my opinion considering this can get you a $300 iPod. Sign up for the service and pay only $0.99 for the first month. If you don't cancel within the first month it is $9.95 thereafter. Your freeiPods.com account will be credited within 1-2 days.

AOL FOR BROADBAND
Time to receive credit: 1-3 days
Credit card required: No - you can use a checking account
Final cost to you: $0
How to cancel: Call AOL at 1-800-827-6364. They will try to get you to remain a member but just say no.

*This is one of the recommended ones. Wait until you are credited before cancelling this account - it takes 3-5 days for your freeiPods.com account to be credited. If you cancel within the 45 days you will NOT be charged a cent! Note: this does require software to be downloaded and installed on your computer.

EVERSAVE
Time to receive credit: 1-3 days
Credit card required: No
Final cost to you: $0
How to cancel: Simply unsubscribe from the email list

It doesn't get simpler than this - this one is HIGHLY recommended! You get credit on your freeiPods.com account within 1-3 days simply by signing up for some email offers. No credit card required! Basically - you enter in your email address, zip code, gender and year of birth - that's it! It's a completely free service.

AOL 9.0 WITH MUSICNET
Time to receive credit: 1-3 days
Credit Card Required: No - you can use a checking account
Final Cost to you: $0
How to cancel: Call AOL at 1-800-827-6364. They will try to get you to remain a member but just say no.

Wait until you are credited before cancelling this account -about 1-3 days. I have heard that some people got credit FAST with this one - from 30 minutes to 4 hours. If you cancel within the 50 days you will NOT be charged a cent! Note: this does require software to be downloaded and installed on your computer.

Rate The Offers.com gives user feedback on different offers and ranks them. This is another good resource to determine which offer you want to use.

Just read the offer details, the terms and you won't have a problem. I just paid attention to what differnt things I was signing up for and what the specifics were and I didn't end up being charged with anything I didn't approve.

I've been interviewed by my local news station about the experience, It's been discussed on Wired.com and TechTV. It's really not a scam and it's a way to really, honestly get that iPod (20gig) or iPod mini (in your choice of any of the colors) for pennies. Even if it costs you $14.99 for the blockbuster deal for example...so what? It's a $300 ipod!

So...won't you help me out? I'd love to get this done so I can tell my Love he's getting an iPod for his birthday.

If you have questions - ask!

(ps: Yes, my pc is still wrong. So I'm a bit inconsistant in my online access right now. Hopefully, if I can try another anti-virus scanner, and get it to run through, I can track down whatever bug might have slipped in.)

God-Fucking-Dammit!
There simply aren't words to describe how fucking pissed off I am right now. My pc has rebooted no less then 15 times this evening. Everything was fine when suddenly I walk by and see it had rebooted. Ok, odd I think, but well whatever. Log back into windows.

Come back by a little later and it's happened again. WTF?

Four-and-a-half hours, 10 windows updates (which kept rebooting in the middle of the process), virus definition updates, running spybot AND microsoft's spyware tool, deleting my junk and trash mail folders, researching up a (low-level email) virus which slipped through into said trash mail folder, doing a system search for said files, disabling xp's system restore feature to ensure it wasn't recreating the file itself AND THREE tries at running my virus software later, I've not managed a complete scan because my system just up and reboots.

Windows has recovered from a serious error

No damned shit. *sighs* So, it looks like I have to wait until tomorrow so Love can try to bring me home a different anti-virus software, install that one and hope to hell I can get through a fucking scan.

This whole pc just shutting down at random points thing is really, really pissing me off. Poor system too. I turn on my computer in the morning, turn it off late at night and THAT'S IT. So, 15+ reboots from hard crashing? Yeah, it's got to be loving this.

Pointless Oscar Blather (no real entry)
Everyone else is doing it...thoughts on oscar nominations. (This makes it seem like I give a crap when, in fact, I don't, but eh...what else am I going to blather about?) I'll make a note and put an arrow for my choice(s). And yeah, I'm skipping some catagories. Some I just don't care, don't know the movies or whatnot.

Edit: Just to clarify...
My post about oscar nominations wasn't even a remote attempt at picking who was GOING to win, just who I like out of the movies and commentaries there in. *chuckles* I'm sure none of what I like will be selected.

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE
Don Cheadle - HOTEL RWANDA (no clue)
?-->Johnny Depp - FINDING NEVERLAND (didn't see it but wanted to)
Leonardo DiCaprio - THE AVIATOR (didn't see it, not overly interested in it)
Clint Eastwood - MILLION DOLLAR BABY (not even remotely interested in it)
?-->Jamie Foxx - RAY (didn't see it, but looks well done.)

This is a tough one. I actually haven't seen either. But heard good things about Ray and was very interested in Finding Neverland. So either one of those of these choices.

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Alan Alda - THE AVIATOR (didn't see it, not overly interested in it)
Thomas Haden Church - SIDEWAYS (didn't see it, not overly interested in it)
-->Jamie Foxx - COLLATERAL (eh...the movie was ok but it didn't wow me like I thought it would.)
Morgan Freeman - MILLION DOLLAR BABY (not even remotely interested in it)
Clive Owen - CLOSER (no clue)

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
Annette Bening - BEING JULIA (no clue)
Catalina Sandino Moreno - MARIA FULL OF GRACE (no clue)
Imelda Staunton - VERA DRAKE (no clue)
Hilary Swank - MILLION DOLLAR BABY (not even remotely interested in it)
-->Kate Winslet - ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND (totally weird, but I liked it. Well made.)

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Cate Blanchett - THE AVIATOR (didn't see it, not overly interested in it)
Laura Linney - KINSEY (no clue)
Virginia Madsen - SIDEWAYS (no clue)
Sophie Okonedo - HOTEL RWANDA (no clue)
Natalie Portman - CLOSER (no clue)

ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
-->THE INCREDIBLES (amazingly funny. Pixar hits again!)
SHARK TALE (didn't see it, wasn't overly interested in it)
SHREK 2 (very funny but lacked a little freshness from the first.)

ART DIRECTION
THE AVIATOR (didn't see it, wasn't overly interested in it)
FINDING NEVERLAND (didn't see it but wanted to)
LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS (didn't see it, wasn't overly interested in it)
-->THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (Loved it. Grand scale and beautiful)
A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT (didn't see it, wasn't overly interested in it)

CINEMATOGRAPHY
THE AVIATOR (didn't see it, wasn't overly interested in it)
HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS (no clue)
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST (gag me with a fucking spoon.)
-->THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (Loved it. Grand scale and beautiful)
A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT (no clue)

BEST PICTURE
THE AVIATOR (didn't see it, wasn't overly interested in it)
?-->FINDING NEVERLAND (didn't see it but wanted to)
MILLION DOLLAR BABY (not even remotely interested in it)
?-->RAY (didn't see it but wanted to)
SIDEWAYS (didn't see it but wanted to)

This is a tough one. I actually haven't seen either. But heard good things about Ray and was very interested in Finding Neverland. So either one of those of these choices.

VISUAL EFFECTS
HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN (while I love HP in general, I was disappointed with this director. A lot in fact.)
I, ROBOT (this was ok. not great; not terrible. standard action fare)
-->SPIDER-MAN 2 (I really enjoyed this movie. Bigger and better then the first and better looking.)

Despite the fact I really love HP in general, I can't get behind it for award purposes. It was just too changed for my tastes.

WRITING (ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY)
THE AVIATOR (didn't see it, wasn't overly interested in it)
*-->ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND (very original. very creative. very unique and well done.)
HOTEL RWANDA (no clue)
*-->THE INCREDIBLES (very funny. instant classic hit.)
VERA DRAKE (no clue)

Of these, both ESotSM and Incredibles are great movies. But... ESotSM is more original. And it's more unique in the field. Incredibles was good, but it was more standard fare. Not that that's bad and not that it wasn't well done. So, I could go either way, but if we're voting based on originality, ESotSM would win out.

Chilly Monday
It's hard to find specific numbers, but it doesn't look like we broke record last night. The best I can find is a report that Tampa was about 32 for several hours overnight. Still pretty damned cold. Especially for us Floridians. It's peaked out at around 52F out there today and another cold night - around 37F - overnight again tonight. We'll be back up to the low/mid 70's though in a couple days and settle back into normal temps for awhile. Heck of a cold front though for us.

The girls are in various stages of hibernation this afternoon - Gracie's curled up in a little ball all snuggled up on the bed and Mika's nestled into the couch. Ah, to be a pampered house cat. *chuckles* And while I'd love to join them in an all-afternoon nap (I'm still not sleeping well, waking up a lot and then this morning, got woken up by chainsaws attacking the shrubs right below my window - to which my headboard rests against.), Mom's on her way over. This means I should stop stalling and blow dry my hair and otherwise make myself presentable. At least I'm showered and dressed, so I've managed to get something done so far today. One of those hard-to-get-going days. I'm sluggish like cold molasass and there's a distinct lack of momentum today. Heh.

Anyway, that's about that so far.

Mika!
Pretty tabby...

(I'm amazed she stayed like that long enough to get the photo. She HATES the camera and runs from it whenever I try to take her picture.)

Note 1am: I've been trying to get this to post for hours. It just keeps timing out. Trying again.

Orange Trees
Yeah I know, I'm posting a lot for a weekend. Heh.

The other day when I was at my friend Rand's house, I was inspirted to take some photos of his backyard. Ok, not his backyard itself, but of the citrus trees in his backyard. The way the sun was illuminating the leaves, it just looked really lovely and full of rich, vivid color.

So I updated the photos page with a four image gallery of orange tree photos

Thought those of you who hadn't seen a lot of sun - let alone oranges - might enjoy it.

Well...Not Today
The w/d is sadly, not coming today. Turns out that the lady's father who was going to deliver it for us, works for the electric company. With the high winds and record, freezing cold tonight, he's on-call. They take cold snaps really serious around here since it's easy to overload the systems or lose lines from winds. So, hopefully tomorrow after work we can arrange something.

We ran out to a few stores and got a few things done instead. Though I'm really looking forward to doing laundry. (How often are you going to hear me say that? *laughs*) We're running out of clean towels and stuff so it was actually exciting to know we could just toss a load in and that's it. Oh well.

And what is it with seeing something everywhere until you actually go to buy it? I've been needing to pick up some tea for Kjersti but haven't had the cash. Two weeks I keep seeing the tea I need to get but I'm too broke to get it. Yesterday AND today, I hit two stores that I know carry the type of tea - only to find they're like out of any of the flavors I was looking for. Actually, I did find the very last one box in stock of one of the flavors, but neither of the other ones I was looking for. Dammit. Do they just know that I'm looking for it and hide them in the back? Do gnomes come in and steal them in the middle of the night? *grumble*

Well, the good news is that the apartment is mostly clean. Love cleaned almost all of it this morning in anticipation of people coming over to bring the w/d set. Bad news is that our vacuum cleaner is totally kaput. It doesn't want to actually vacuum and if you turn it on, it smells like it's burning. And the smell permiates the entire apartment instantly. We've taken it appart and no such luck. Still totally screwed. So now, we need a vacuum cleaner too. *sighs*

Alright, I'm blathering so I'm out.

Interesting Weather Change
Yesterday was a high around 72F. Last night's overnight low was about 54F. Today's HIGH is 54F. Hrm. Notice anything weird with that? Not to mention, it's constant 17mph winds out there, coastal flood warnings because of said wind and...freeze warnings overnight. Tonight's overnight low is forecasted in at 28F! Holy crap that's cold. (Remember folks, I live in Florida and it was 72 yesterday.) When they say an artic wind is blowing in, they mean it literally! Brr!

Not just me, but everyone's going to be cold tonight!

Anyway, no real entry, just a shocked surprise at the temp change, drop and seriously low overnight low. So low, we should be record-breaking low for this day. The lowest low on record for January 24th (since it's technically tomorrow when it'll hit the lowest point), was 30F in 1960. Hitting the low 30's is rare around here and getting into the 20's even more so. The northern counites get into the 20's a few more times then we do, but not those of us here on the water and in the middle of the state.

Brr.

So Tired
Woke up at like 5:40am for no reason. And then couldn't get back to sleep for a long time. Woke up again like an hour later. Rinse. Repeat. All morning basically from that fist time awake (and, I had only been asleep for about three hours at that point), I kept waking up over and over.

We hit the Dali Museum today. Which was cool. We'd all been wanting to go for months now. I'm so glad we went when we did though because I had completely forgotten about Destino being there. It's an animated film collaboration between Walt Disney and Dali from 1946 that was abandoned due to budget:
In 1946, Walt Disney commissioned from Dalí an animated short based on the song Destino, by Mexican artist Armando Domínguez. The film was to combine ballet and animation, and was meant to form part of a feature length film of short stories. But in the end, the project failed. The hundred scenes, drawings and paintings made personally by Dalí have remained hidden over more than half a century.

Recently, Roy Disney, nephew of Walt Disney, and producer Baker Bloodworth produced the short film following the artists' instructions and preparatory sketches. The film received an Oscar nomination in the short animated film category. Mr. Disney enlisted the assistance of legendary animator John Hench (who died February 5, 2004), who collaborated with Dali on the original 1946 project. The pair worked so closely, Dalí often stated that he was unable to tell the difference between their work.

It alone was worth the price of admission. Coming in at six minutes, it was beautiful and amazing at the same time. And it's only there through the end of the month. I remember reading about it last year and thinking we needed to see it, only to forget about it until we arrived there today.

Tomorrow we should have our w/d. Which will be so wonderful. I'll never take something as simple as being able to wash my clothes for granted again.

In the meantime, we need to clean the apartment - it's trashed - but seeing as Love and I are beyond tired (I'm only writing something because I realized how badly needed any update was) so hopefully, we can work on it tomorrow before his friends come to help deliver the set. Needless to say, he doesn't want them seeing the place in tatters.

So, most likely, no entry again until Monday. Weekends are the one and only time I'm actually not at my pc, so postings are sparce. Besides, it's Carnivale tomorrow and you know I'm a junkie for that show.

With that, I'm going to close. (The way my eyelids keep wanting to do uncontrolably at this point...) Night.
