:: Countdown until my birthday May 16th - 0 days - It's Today! ::

Weeeeeeeeee!

I'm officially a year older today. (Ok, so the wee isn't for being older, it's just because it's my birthday. lol) I'm going to be brief right now because I want to go vege a bit before I get ready for dinner tonight. My friend Rand came over and gave me my birthday gifts on his lunch hour. I got one of the trackballs I wanted

and one of the totally cool, I've-wanted-one-forever Ion Pens:

Yesterday I had a great day with my family out in the park. Took a whole bunch of pictures I'll try to go through and make a gallery for the next couple days. Afterwards, we went to the mall and all tried on some clothes and I got a couple more things. I ened up with a lot of shirts and a pair of shorts and overall, had a GREAT day! :) It was fun and nice.

Saw parts of the Lunar eclipse yesterday - the sky got really cloudy for awhile and I had gone back inside - despite the swarms of mosquiteos everywhere. It was quite lovely with shades of red and brown. I would have loved to see it with a telescope or something, but maybe I can plan to do so for the November one. It was pretty darned neat.

Um...I think that's what I had wanted to cover. I was trying to be brief so I wasn't here on the pc for the next hour writing my entry. *lol* More later or tomorrow or whenever as I have a busy weekend going for me, so if I'm quiet, it's just because I'm having fun and I'll be back to catch up by Monday I'm sure. Ta!

:: Countdown until my birthday May 16th - 1 days - it's tomorrow! ::

Heading out to the park with my mom in about an hour. We're having the family birthday party today so my mom, sister, grandmother and I will be having a picnic lunch and cake this afternoon. Because of the fact my birthday falls on a Friday this year, I end up with a whole birthday weekend. Not too shabby. :)

I'm putting new batteries in my camera and taking it with me since the park's pretty. Look for some pics proably later tonight. Ta!

Season Finale of The West Wing tonight - in about 15 minutes! Stop what you're doing and go watch! ;)

I have more to comment, but I'll come back and edit this later.

[update]

Holy. Shit. Best. Show. On. Tv. daaaamn Wow. Just got done watching the season finale of The West Wing and it blew me away. That show is so amazing and powerful and never fails to give me chills when it just hits you like that.

Other random thoughts....
They had a commercial for T3 on during West Wing and I can't help but thinking that three humans-versus-the-machines movies in one year (Matrix 2, T3, and Matrix 3 in November). Seems a bit much. Saturated market, ya know?

A certain person we know decided to up and go see a pre-screeing of Matrix 2 tonight, without bothering to invite us (let alone even mention it), though inviting other of their friends and going in a little group. Screw 'em; we're all in agreance that none of have any need for begging anyone to be our friend and we're well fine and happy without them. We've gone out of our way to be social, invite them to events and plan things around their needs but if can't even pick up the phone to return a call, or consider us to see a movie that everyone obviously wants to see, then whatever. I sure won't be losing sleep over it. We all got along just fine before they started coming over and we certainly have better things to do then wait around for fickle and selfish them.

Tomorrow my family and I will be having a bit of a little picnic in a local park, out in a shelter by the lake. This will leave the weekend free for other things like heading out to Busch Gardens or something. Yeah, I know we need insurance, but damnit, my birthday is once a year, and for the price of one day admission, you get the rest of the year for free. I think that's a good b-day present to me. :)

...

Wow. I got all kinds of distracted and forgot I was writing this. Apparently tomorrow, May 15th is Wear Your Wings Day. *lol* (I think that's too cool) I own a pair of black angel wings and a pair of black bat wings, though I desperately want a pair of faerie wings. Somehow, I ended up on Fairylove.com and they have some AMAZING stuff. Ooh...I want a pair of faerie wings so bad. The Cicada style are really neat and I bet could be made really lovely with some browns, greens and such - very forest-like. And...oooooh.....soooo pretty...the Rainbow Child (that's the name, not the size) wings are beautiful... Ugh, there's too many links on the one page. I am also in love with the Druid Faery Wings as well. Man, I just need to stop. (Can you tell how much I love these things though and how much I want a pair?) Most aren't too bad - coming in between $50-100 for the really nice ones. My angel wings were an outstanding deal at $50 a couple years ago, and I've seen cheesy faery wings I didn't like at all start at $45.

Anyway, I need to stop drooling. Because I seriously am. *lol* Ta for now.

The Color of Money
Well, the US Treasury has announced the new look of the $20 bill to be in circulation later this year. You can see the image directly here or go to the new money page to explore the bill interactivly and get the info.

"The new $20 note will be issued in the fall, with new designs for the $50 and $100 following in 2004 and 2005. Redesign of the $5 and $10 notes is under consideration, but the $1 and $2 notes will not be redesigned. Even after the new money is issued, older-design notes will remain legal tender."

"The most noticeable difference in the notes is the subtle green, peach and blue colors featured in the background. Different colors will be used for different denominations, which will help everyone -- particularly those who are visually impaired -- to tell denominations apart."

This is the first time the US has used any other color besides green in the printing of US Money (according to their site). It still looks pretty much like normal, just with a little more color to it. It's actually not half-bad. And it's really only a part-way point to other countries which use full color in their money. Hopefully, people won't think it too "fake" looking since Americans are conditioned to to think money = green and nothing else (and that colored money = Monopoly money!)

Didn't Last Long
In other, closer-to-home news, I mentioned yesterday that my sister got another dog and my mom was going to bring her down so I could met her after the vet appointment. Turns out, there's a change in plans and she's returning the dog to the Humane Socitey. She feels the cats and dog just weren't getting along well enough and that the cats were being unfairly ignored because the dog demanded much more attention and the cats were just hiding. I hate to say that I knew this wasn't going to work out - everyone kept saying that the last time didn't work out because it was a puppy and this was a full-grown dog - but I knew that despite the idealistic dream my sister has of having a dog, the reality just won't work. She doesn't have the time, patience, or dedication for a dog; and especially not when she already have four cats. Having a dog would be great for the couple times a month that she wants to go to the beach with the dog, or go to the park, but the reality is that she doesn't want the day-to-day and I would have thought she'd have realized that the last time she had a puppy. It's so sad too, the poor dog thought it was rescued from the shelter and now, it's going back. How cruel is that?

Anyway, that's it for now, I need to go get dressed, my mom's stopping by on her way home from the shelter to pick up her mother's day card and present.

:: Countdown until my birthday May 16th - 4 days ::

Yesterday was nice. The BBQ was really cool - their new grill is a massive thing - and they had some great food as always. After we ate, we ran out to the park to catch the last show of Romeo & Juliet at the annual Shakespeare in the Park festival. It was a really neat thing. It's on a park, out on the water, and everyone brings blankets and you picnic and drink, and just have a good time until the show starts. They were really smart about it, they had the people who brought chairs sit behind the people who had only blankets so that everyone could see. Even though it was general seating, we ended up right in the middle and had a pretty good view of the stage. The performace was actually not bad (though we all thought Romeo was only so-so) and overall, it was a heck of a lot of fun. We met up with some friends at about 6:15, got there at about 6:45 and the show started at 8pm. It was pretty late (for a Sunday) when we got home at almost 11:30pm, but it was still something I'd like to do again.

I put some Mother's Day photos up if you're interested.

Got up today and my Love wasn't feeling well. He called off and got some extra rest. So we ran over to the store to pick up a few food items late in the afternoon - we had nothing in the way of food in the house - and when we got back, I made some yummy grilled cheese sandwhiches. Think we're going to make some spaghetti soon for a late(r) dinner and watch a little tv. Nothing too terribly exciting.

Mika's officially a weirdo. She's a hyper cat. *lol* I have decided that her full name will be "Mika Underfoot" because that's where she is. I don't think I've ever tripped over a cat more then her. I also have decided that she's much like Stitch from Lilo & Stitch because much like Lilo, I find myself always saying, "No!" to her. (the scene where Lilo brings Stitch home and he's tearing up her room and she's all, "no! No...No! No, that's from my blue period!" is exactly how Mika gets when she's hyper. And she's hyper a lot.) She's more puppy - she bites everything, even attacking my hair sometimes - then cat, but she's still a sweetie. Just so different then Kush that sometimes it's hard. I got used to knowing what to expect from him, but with her....sheesh, it's always something new.

My sister apparently got a dog from the Humane Society the other day. My mom's bringing her down for a checkup at Petsmart like I did for free tomorrow, so she's going to stop by and let me met her. Name's Peanut, but as she's a mixed dog, I don't know much about her then that. I might try to take a pic for my sister with the digital camera. If I do, I'll post one to show her off. I hope she does better with a dog then she did the puppy she got a few years ago. The puppy proved too much for her and she ended up returning her to the breeder. I can't imagine how she can have four indoor kitties and a dog now, but hey, more power to her if she can manage it. =D (at least she's not the "crazy cat lady" anymore - now she has cats AND a dog!)

Going to hang out with my family on Thursday for my birthday. We already decided to go out to the park not far from here on the lake and have some sandwhiches and cake like we did at my sister's birthday last month. Should be nice. I have no idea what we're going to do my Love and I for my birthday and I certainly don't know what we're going to do about the registration since it expires on my birthday and we're driving illegal right now since our insurance ended and we haven't gotten a new policy. (Which you need proof of before you can get your registration). What doesn't help is apparently the State of Florida is doing a seat-belt crack down from May 19th - June 1st. Because they can't stop you just for seat belts on it's own, they're going to be stopping people for everything else and then giving you a ticket if you're not wearing your seat belt. We need to replace our tail lights (they burnt out) and turn signals (ditto) and hope they don't run the plate for anything. The tags here in FL just say the month and year (05/03) so generally, you can get away through the end of the month even if technically it expires on your birthday. But if they run the plate, they can see the date and then when they ask for insurance, we'd be screwed. That's like a "suspend your license" kinda offense. It's criminal. Ugh.

Anyway.... babbling at this point. Hope all the mothers out there had a lovely mother's day and everyone's well.

Happy Mothers Day to all the mom's out there!.

My Love had an early breakfast with his mom, then we're having a BBQ with our friend Rand and his mom, then we're going out to see Shakespeare In the Park.Busy day all around. Another quickie post, but there really isn't anything to talk about yet, but I'm sure I'll want to talk about the play later tonight or tomorrow. I think it's a neat idea. We're going to see Romeo and Julliet performed out in a park on the water. Like I said, neat idea. :)

Alrighty, I just woke up and my fingers are making a mess of typing (I've used backspace more then the other keys I think) so that's all for now.
