For the "visitor" who mentioned in my feedback that I had not thanked the donation from the Anonymous contributor, I'd direct you to the 8/15/01 post, first paragraph where I said this:
And then...someone contributed another $109 (the amount we needed to complete the purchase of Gold), but withheld their name, so while I can not give thanks personally (nor grant you your icon!), my thanks. *smiles*

So...I did thank them - the only way I could. I'm sorry if that was not enough, but...I *do* appreciate EVERYONE'S help and when there is no name, I'm left with an impersonal Thank You to give.

*shrugs*

Sorry if that's not what was expected, but...I did not know any other good way to say thanks. Ed's donation was cleared before the Anonymous one and the banner was made at that time. With such little net access, getting a new one uploaded was hard to do, so I made a point to thank them in my Journal.

Anyway...the backlog of entries will still come - soon - and then everyone will have an update on the last week and change.

Take care all...

#1: For those wondering, YES, I am still alive. I've just had almost no internet access the last week and change and so all my entries were hand written and need to be typed up and saved on floppy so I can get them here. Look for that (hopefully) this weekend - it's pages of updates since the last entry.

#2: For those of you who've been kind enough to contact me about the gothic-angels.com closing (mentioned in the newsletter and in the 8/15/01 entry), here's some more information for the moment on what is and what I need to do...
a) I can NOT host it myself w/my pc as a webserver since I not only have an old, slow machine (PII 266) but I also have NO internet connection from home at this time. Even if I were able to get my RoadRunner Cable modem back, the customer plan does NOT allow you to have a webserver. (you need to sign up for "business class" which is not in residental/apartment neighborhoods, and is also like $99/mo)
b) Registering the domain won't be that much of a cost - you can find that rather cheap (although if you know a good registrant that is cheap, but allows you to register it in YOUR name, feel free to leave a link in Feedback)
c)...but paying the monthly hosting cost is not nearly as cheap. I use LOTS of bandwidth and therefore will need a plan that offers LOTS of transfer a month with little overage fees until I know for sure how much it's taking. (Currently, I average about 120 UNIQUE visitors - not including reloads - to the main "splash" page a day. This does not include images remotely hosted for the forum, the articles linked all over the web, nor the rest of the site content itself.) I don't have exact figures yet, but I would estimate several Gigs at least a month
d) So, what I need truly, is someone (several someones?) to help support the site through donnations, contributions, sponsership (contact me at webmaster@memoryanddream.zzn.com if you want to do some paid-ads), etc. This is all dependant on how much I am going to have to pay out of pocket a month...because I don't have extra to pay out of pocket every month and this site is just so huge that I don't know how I - as one poor person - am going to be able to afford it.

Anyway, hope that helps give more info...as always, thanks for your support and help, and please feel free to drop me a note in Feedback or at my temp addy of webmaster@memoryanddream.zzn.com if you think you'd like to help. Just a little from everyone would be a lot and would make this happen! :)
